But my reasoning at the time (which has unfortunately turned out to be true) was that Trump’s policies would hurt more children than Harris’s, overall. Still, I am at least glad that children will no longer be mutilated on the altar of a cult.

There have been a number of Fairfax County School Board meeting discussing this and voting on policies that they teach about it and support it. The resistance has been from the occasional parent who speaks less than 2 minutes about it during their "citizen participation."
It was a topic during the Family Life Education curriculum approval. The School Board appointed a trans woman to the FLE committe, and they also have several gay rights activists on the committee. This is documented.
