We don't need to protest but I do wish elected Dems were actually talking about the terrible things he's already doing. I understand that I feel beaten, beleaguered, and ready for people to simply experience the consequences of what they asked for. But I do think that elected Dems have SOME responsibility to, you know, communicate effectively.

I think the combo of him actually winning, winning the popular vote, and being forced to go through this all again, is just too much. I'm just hunkering down trying to survive and stay sane this time. I don't have it in me to do anything else.

Some Dems are but I agree they should be doing more of it. EVERY SINGLE DAY. T

Amen, PP.

Where are the 2028 hopefuls? Why aren't they using this moment - THIS MOMENT - to build their platforms and show that they can be the one to lead us out of this horror?

Unless all the naysayers were/are right and all the hopefulls just suck. Maybe there isn't a one who is going to rise up when we need them.

It’s very early days. I’m not a political strategist but probably they are following the don’t get in your opponent’s way when he’s destroying himself. Give Trump all the rope he needs to hang himself. He’s never faced consequences in his life, but even Trump can’t overcome the laws of economics and science.

This.

Nah. Any campaigning now just looks like sore losers with butthurt. Let a year of madness go by. Build the new platform on that reality, and how, exactly and in detail, the Dems are willing to address it.

Nobody's listening right now. The clowns are celebrating the circus, and the smarter people are going to shun and avoid, buckle up and mind their own business for a bit.

Trump will play himself, just like he did last time. The minions celebrating now may even believe in it, for a bit. But his hollow promises and childish policymaking aren't sustainable. Give them a chance to see that for themselves, then start running candidates who can actually do something about it, with solid policy and plans upfront.

The dems will roll out the same “moderates” who will talk about “working across the aisle” and “the traditions of the senate”. When elected they will attack the progressives and vote with the republicans.

I'm the PP and I'm a moderate! I despise most of the progressives - something I only admit anonymously. I don't mind them reaching across the aisle!

But why isn't any 2028 contender talking right now about bird flu, eggs, the alcoholic moron they're going to install as defense secretary? Why aren't they talking about drug prices going up?

How about Trump promising to dismantle FEMA as the fires are raging in California - which I believe I heard correctly has more Republicans than any other state in the country! Is that supposed to go over well in Florida? North Carolina? Louisiana? Texas?

There are a hundred things to be talking about right now - and outside of Chris Murphy (yes, pp, good call - I like him, too) I feel like Dems are just not communicating.

Anyway - I'm worn out. I'm scared and exhausted. I'm not protesting because this is what people voted for - they ran toward this moron again, and what am I supposed to do about it?

Yes. And I hope Jeffries and Schumer understand this.

There are things that he is trying to do that shouldn't be controversial on both sides - like ending lowering drug prices. I think it's time to start speaking up and protesting again! Just silently rolling our eyes isn't helping.

Protesting is for the powerless, truly. The battles aren't happening in the streets.

What is protesting going to do? change Speaker Johnson's mind? Leader Thune's mind? Elon's mind?

This is me exactly and how so many of my Democratic friends feel. We are wealthy enough that we'll benefit from his tax policies. The other asinine policies he puts in place won't harm us. If drug prices raise, eh, no biggie. I can afford it.

But you know who can't? My Maga relatives in WV who are poor. My Maga relatives who had to crowd-source funds to buy insulin in the past. My Maga relatives, who have believed the lies of and voted for every Republican since they were old enough to vote, who relied on me to pay for them to attend family vacations. My Maga relatives who post publicly about kicking everyone off government assistance while privately asking me for money to cover their rent, utilities, buy their kid's gifts, etc.

I did a lot and gave a lot leading up to the election. I campaigned non-stop for Harris. And frankly, I just don't care now. I'm exhausted. Trying to get them to see the error of their ways and proof of Trump's lies is like screaming at a brick wall. It's totally useless. So, let it all burn down. I'll get richer. They'll get poorer. Maybe they'll learn. Let's hope they learn. If not, I'll still be wealthy enough to where nothing the orange bozo does will hurt me.

But the Bank of Me is closed. I'll still send gifts to their kids on their birthdays, but that's it. I'm not paying their rents and mortgages. I'm not flying everyone for spring break and summer vacation. I'm done.

This. We finally realize MAGA is a cult and no amount of reasoning is going to help. Their wake up is going to hurt.

I'm in this mental space as well. I am done with that MAGA adult family members who always have their hands out.

It's time the MAGAs pull themselves up by their bootstraps like my parents did. The next four years may end up being awful for them, but it's what they wanted.

I think it’s going to get awful a lot faster than expected. Everyone consoled themselves with soothing words about the tax cuts and how it wasn’t so bad the first time. They did not adequately account for all the people around Trump who told him he couldn’t change the constitution with an EO. Now he’s surrounded by ignorant sycophants and it’s going to be a mess.

There is a reason for the long list of republicans that won’t work with him or endorse him. His last team had to stop him from doing crazy stuff and this time it’s only loyalists who won’t pushback and he didn’t control congress last time. It is going to be much tougher this time.

The elected Dems and progressive elites/interest groups are why I'm not protesting. Useless, feckless and self centered.

The Repubs will overreach even more, and are even more useless, feckless and self centered, but watering down and fixing their mistakes before they happen isn't worth my time.

I don't know if he's a 2028 hopeful, but I've started following Sen. Chris Murphy on Insta. He has always been a decent guy and has even-toned insightful messages on Insta and other social media platforms.
