The US is a country of immigrants. Your ancestors came here illegally too. This land did not belong to them. It belonged to the millions of native Americans who were already living here.

The govt was not providing housing and medical expenses to them.

The government wasn’t using taxpayer dollars to provide housing, food, healthcare, and for illegal immigrants.

And the government isn't using taxpayer dollars to provide food and shelter for undocumented immigrants now. Stop being ridiculous.

Not US taxpayer dollars. Stop spreading lies. It does no one any good.

Emergency Medicaid
Illegal immigrants and their U.S. children are eligible for emergency Medicaid services.

School nutrition
All children, regardless of immigration status, are eligible for free or reduced school lunch.

WIC
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is available to all who qualify, regardless of immigration status.

Emergency shelter
Illegal immigrants may have short-term access to shelters and soup kitchens in emergency situations.

Public health
Illegal immigrants are not restricted from accessing public health programs that provide immunizations and treatment of communicable disease symptoms.

In-kind services
Illegal immigrants may have access to other in-kind services necessary to protect life or safety, such as medical, public health, and mental health services

The total cost of providing benefits to illegal immigrants is unknown because: Illegal aliens are not required to reveal their eligibility to receive certain benefits.

Officials are often prohibited from inquiring about the status of illegal alien

All Undocumented Immigrants Now Qualify For Medi-Cal In California. The new year rung in a host of new laws in California, including the expanded Medicaid coverage, nursing home disclosures, mental health measures, LGBTQ+ protections, and more.

Over half of the states have used state funds to provide TANF, Medicaid, and/or CHIP to immigrants who are subject to the five-year bar on federally funded services, or to a broader group of immigrants. A growing number of states and counties provide health coverage to children, young adults, or pregnant persons regardless of their immigration status. Several states offer or will offer health coverage to older adults regardless of their immigration status. And five states (California, Colorado, Minnesota, Oregon, Washington) and the District of Columbia offer or will offer public or private health coverage with state subsidies to all otherwise eligible immigrants regardless of their immigration status.

Where federal matching funds are available, forty-four states have chosen to cover immigrant children and/or pregnant people, or to provide prenatal care regardless of immigration status. In 2009, when Congress first reauthorized the CHIP program, states were granted an option to provide federally funded Medicaid and CHIP to “lawfully residing” children and/or pregnant persons regardless of their date of entry into the U.S. As of May 2024, thirty-eight states plus the District of Columbia have opted to take advantage of this federal funding for immigrant health care coverage, which became available on April 1, 2009.

Twenty-two states use or will use federal funds to provide prenatal care regardless of immigration status, under an option enabling states to provide prenatal services through CHIP. Under this option, the pregnant person’s fetus is technically the recipient of CHIP-funded services. This approach potentially limits the scope of services available to the pregnant person to those directly related to the fetus’s health. However, several states have used another CHIP option or state funds to provide 12 months of post-partum care, regardless of status.

The District of Columbia, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont use state or local funds to provide prenatal care regardless of the pregnant person’s immigration status.

Define crime. Because coming in illegally is a crime. Driving around without insurance is a crime. Working without a valid i9 and not paying state and federal income tax is a crime. Skipping out on hospital bill payments is a crime. Stealing identities and social security numbers so you can work is a crime. You are on,y looking at a fraction of crimes illegal immigrants commit if you think murders are all that matters.

I bought a brand new car and was hit in less than a week after getting it. The guy who got out to look basically spoke zero English and high tailed it out of there, probably because he had no insurance and was undocumented. Now I, as a law abiding citizen, get screwed because I had to pay to fix everything and my insurance went up because I was hit by an undocumented migrant who had no insurance and broke even more laws by hit and running.

+1 The same thing happened to me. A non-english speaking man sideswiped my car in a starbucks drive through of all places. We both got out and I simply stated he hit my car. He walked back to his truck and fled. Fantastic.

Imagine a man rapes and kills your daughter instead of damaging your car? We need the border secured. Trump has a mandate to do that now, and he will.

Anyone who wants to take their daughter to a foreign country to be raped and killed by a legal citizen of that country- feel free. Take your car along and let it be hit into and crumpled up, too.

Exactly.

Anonymous wrote:We are a sovereign nation. We have to control our borders and vet who is coming into our country. The Biden-Democrat open borders policies are wrong. No other developed country has these insane policies of allowing millions of illegal immigrants to walk into their country. I voted for Trump because I am fed up with illegal immigration. My health insurance premium skyrocketed for next year. This is in addition to my car insurance premium skyrocketing and housing becoming unaffordable. I am convinced it is because of all of the illegal immigrants in the area, driving while uninsured and using the hospital emergency room for care and never paying their bills. Illegal immigration is costly to the American people. Paying marginally more for the cost of produce would be worth the savings we would get from the cost of educating their kids, absorbing the cost for their health care, etc.

+1. Leftists can continue to plug their ears while shouting LALALALALA but it doesn’t change what people like me are actually seeing in our communities. I live in an area with an extremely high (~50%) illegal alien population (not the DC area).

I’ve spoken with local police officers who have talked about the high incidences of illegal aliens who speak no English getting pulled over for DUIs. People in my community post on the local Facebook group with alarming frequency about getting into accidents with people who don’t speak English and don’t have car insurance. My husband’s and my car insurance has skyrocketed in recent years even though we both have completely clean driving records and have not submitted any claims.

Multiple nurses in the hospital where I delivered our children have independently mentioned how many illegal alien women have given birth there and have no insurance, and how difficult it is to provide care for people who are from vastly different cultures and don’t speak English. (My husband and I have good insurance but still end up paying thousands in connection with each child. So imagine the bills that are going unpaid, that we end up having to subsidize.)

We shop at the same grocery store and I see them using SNAP to pay for their groceries that my husband and I pay for out of our earnings, thanks to the 3-5 anchor babies they invariably have in tow. Seriously, the most common family unit is a pregnant mom and 2-4 kids who look to be 5 and under. They come here illegally and then just crank them out to get all the bennies on the American taxpayers’ dime.

And then all the kids, whether anchor babies growing up with non English speakers, or kids brought here illegally, are crowding the local public schools and are absolutely draining all available resources.

It is infuriating. I am SICK of it. And I voted accordingly.

My grocery bill says otherwise. Apparently a majority of voters feel the same way. Immigration, inflation and hyperfocus on social issues are the polled reasons voters picked Trump. Sounds like you're the ignorant one here.

And what is Trump’s plan for food prices and inflation??

Make them higher.

My health insurance monthly premium just went up 22%. My car insurance premium went up 14%.

That technically isn't high inflation. You may still be seeing the impact of high inflation, but we currently aren't in it. Additionally, your costs will continue to rise under Trump. .

I'm an older DCUM poster who has worked for years in public education. It may not "technically"be high inflation. Call it what you want. Those costs and grocery store prices are not up only 2.6%. They impacted this election.

Dp- Of course they did. But people hilariously voted in the guy that’s proposing tariffs that will make it much worse. I say hilariously, because my family makes over 500,000 and we will be getting a tax cut. YMMV

The prices at grocery stores are available and in some cases are down. But to your point that prices did influence the election you are correct, but that's only because people refuse to understand why the prices had increased and what coulr reasonably be done about it, and why Trump's solution would not improve things.
Which btw has nothing to do with immigration , illegal or otherwise. Deporting large numbers of immigrants will not make your groceries, health insurance or care insurance cheaper.
