I am an independent and believe in abortion rights. But I grew up in a conservative community and know how abortion is considered. Most conservatives think abortion is bad and do not want a woman to have to undergo one. They assume a woman doesn’t want to kill her baby. They think it is killing a baby and feel bad for a woman who has to do that.
Here’s an analogy. Say that a large % of the population wants kids to work in coal mines. It’s so important they have this right. It’s about their freedom and being equal to the men who work there. But you don’t want women working in coal mines! So you don’t care if they aren’t allowed to do so because you don’t want them to work there anyway. That’s how conservative women feel. They don’t want women having abortions.

Why would anyone want to date someone who doesn’t share their values? Who is she a baby or not ready for a relationship? You people are strange - or old wives who have been mistreated for so long you think it’s normal.
But that's not what OP's daughter was sharing. Yes, of course everyone should be with someone who shares similar values, but also in a relationship that respects one another's views and opinions that will definitely at some point not fully align.
What's wrong with OP's daughter is her over the top dramatic blanket statements about all men...that she "lost her faith in men" and that "there are no men worth dating". That she's "scared for her future and wants nothing to do with men."
It's a blanket statement against all men. Ridiculous.
Lol. Kinda. But reading through this thread, she has her work cut out for her. She should certainly avoid the arrogant blow hards posting most of the obnoxious answers in this thread.
Good luck honey...you are going to need it based on this thread!
Yes, OPs daughter is going to need luck. OP has managed to cripple her in a way that prevents her from ever attaining a normal, balanced, and meaningful existence. That’s the crime here-the parenting that manages to result in what OP described originally.
Hardly, drama queen. She's 26. She's getting a reality dose of how backwards this country can be, like we all do, and she will adjust. there are plenty of progressive men out there and she will find one.
Progressive men tend to be betas who have sexual identify issues. She probably will find one of them to make her life miserable.

You know it’s funny… what I hear from Trump voters is how tired they are of being called stupid, racist, ignorant, etc. And we can debate whether or not clearly articulated statements have come out of that campaign that would fit those adjectives. But here’s OP on this thread, explaining that her daughter feels alienated from many of her male peers. She’s correctly noting that a significant proportion of the cohort her daughter would date is embracing a party that has been openly hostile to women. There is no debate about that. And in response, this poster calls OP’s daughter is spoiled, insufferable baby.
This is one of the main reasons I have such trouble taking many Trump voters seriously. It’s impossible to have conversations with people who stomp their feet about something and then turn around and do that exact same thing in a conversation where no one asked them to. Nobody asked anybody to weigh in with this level of vitriol for OP‘s daughter. OP didn’t start a thread insulting anyone. In fact, she started a thread lamenting her concern for someone she cares about, her child. Which is something that any voter of any demographic could relate to. And yet, we have an entire thread of people lobbing insults at both women, a la the poster above. It’s really something to behold.
You know what's really something to behold? The fact that you completely ignore the over-the-top melodrama and hyperbole of the OP's post. No doubt, she has passed on her gift for exaggeration and drama to her daughter. Let's take a look at the OP again:
"My 25 yr old daughter, who just moved to new city with a new job, has lost her faith in men. After America chose a misogynistic rapist to lead our country, she believes there are no men worth dating. She’s scared for her future and wants nothing to do with men. I am trying to convince her that there are supportive kind men out there (including her own father). Can you share examples of young men fighting for women’s rights?"
Does this sound like a stable person to you?

Sure, you can have an opinion. However, since you're not carrying a fetus that could be the result of rape or incest and/or risk your own health, any decisions should *not* be up to you.
That’s fine but a lot of people disagree with you. They think the fetus/baby matters too.
