You can train most kids to be speedy (unless they have a biomechanical issue), just as you can make them technical. So do both, not just one.

My favorite player! The Croatian wizard.
Except that Modric and Messi are both fast and athletic on top of having brilliant skills, same as with every single player in all the top leagues in the world. Even OP’s extremely overly simplistic question doesn’t ask about a kid’s height.
Modric and Messi have quick reaction and fast frequency feet
They are not "fast" over distance
They are absolutely fast over distance compared to the general population, as well as having all the other things.
Never seen Messi or Modric on any list of fastest footballers
General population is quite irrelevant
Nope. The general population—two random 11 year olds, presumably from the DMV—is the subject of the original post, which a PP rightfully identified as idiotic, and you and I are both idiots for contributing to it, though not as moronic as the posters who know zip about the sport trotting out “We suck because our best athletes don’t play soccer.” Neither man would succeed in the NFL or NBA, but both men are superior athletes with above average speed to go with their superhuman brains and balance.

Of course there are always exceptions where the most athletic kids prefer soccer over other sports. Hence, they might be willing to put in the necessary technical training on a daily basis at an early age.
The best players are the fast players with incredible technical skills (ie Mbappe). But if players were born with speed, they should work on their technical skills. And for slow players, they need to work on their technical skills, soccer IQ (positioning, situational awareness, etc.) has the speed of play.
Speed of play and speed of good decision-making are the best counters against fast/physical players.
I don't know, why don't you provide the jersey sales numbers?
Parents decide which sports they put their kids.
So how do the so-called most talented kids choose which sport they want to play?
If your parents put you in basketball or baseball from you're 5 years old and you become a good basketball or baseball player, how does that mean you're a better natural talent than a soccer player?
You must be the type of parent that forces your DC to play a certain sport. Other parents typically let their DC choose the sport. I put my DC in different sports and let them decide which they like and want to continue.

yep lots of money even for average players. Vice pro soccer in US.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:yea because the US is sending soooo many men play top tier soccer.. LMFAO Messi when he returns to Argentina to run for president after spending 25 years in Florida:
‘When the U.S. sends its footballers, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re sending players that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing their high school gym teachers. They’re bringing ”American football” coaches. They’re basketball players. And some, I assume, actually play real futbol and not just long-distance hackysack.”
LOL! We have a winner of this thread.
How do you explain that the past 5 NBA MVP's are European?
How do you explain 1/5 the NBA is European?
How do you explain the number of baseball players not from America?
How do you explain the current International Basketball World Champion isn't America?
American pro sports are definitely a melting pot. 28% of MLB baseball players come from outside America. The NHL has twice as many Canadians as Americans, plus large numbers of Swedish, Russian, and Finnish players. Even the NFL had 88 foreign-born players who took a snap in 2023.
again your are a moron if you think american soccer is attract our best. Its not opinion its fact.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:results on international stage. And big money in other US sports. Prove it wrong..Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:you cant be that dumb. im pretty sure in US produce the money maker sports are not soccer. The money talks. I will repeat until it becomes a primary sport US soccer will suffer.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Again american soccer will continue to suffer until it becomes a primary sports. Please feel free to present the verifiable data and evidence to make this statement factual truth.
Thanks
Soccer in America is not "attracting the best kids" from where?
Mexico? Cuba? Dominican Republic?
Where is your factual verifiable scientific provable evidence that at 5, 6 and 7 years old, the sport performance "ceiling" of all kids in America is identified and the ones with the highest "ceiling" choose sports other than soccer?
How is "ceiling" measured?
What is "ceiling"?
What are the elements of this "ceiling" as it applies to Each Sport?
(as you said, I'm dumb, so I need you to spell it out)
Absolutely nothing to prove wrong from what you've said.
You're just rambling your opinion
You were asked several questions to prove your point. You can't answer one. You're just repeating your dunce opinion.
What are "top potential" kids? When and how are they identified? Who identifies all the kids in America for potential? What age?
What are the methods of measurement? Where is the data stored?
