Let me get this straight, Mrs. Alito was upset by a F Trump sign that was put up after Trump led an insurrection and tried to destroy our democracy. She didn’t like the word being used on a sign near a bus stop. How did she feel about Trump saying that he likes to grab women by the pussy?
And I guess the neighbor called her a C You Next Tuesday, which is rude.

Wait.......a Supreme Court justices wife doesn't know which way the U.S Flag flies? that's the excuse? Please tell me you aren't falling for this? Please don't diminish our countries flag with disrespect. Have a little for our symbol of freedom. Please.Anonymous wrote:"I had no involvement whatsoever in the flying of the flag," Alito told the Times in an emailed statement. "It was briefly placed by Mrs. Alito in response to a neighbor’s use of objectionable and personally insulting language on yard signs."

His wife probably hung it that way accidentally. Why is this even a story in 2024??

They're just legislators with robes.

Really?
Alito is 74. He married his wife in 1985 when she was a law librarian. Will estimate that she is 62 at a minimum. I'm 62. I'm pretty progressive. I also learned about how to hang a flag when I was a Girl Scout at 10 as well as how not to. Even if Mrs. Alito wasn't a Scout, I can't imagine that she made it through the '60s and '70s w/o hearing about flag etiquette. Seriously.
DH was a political appointee at one point early in his career. You better believe that if I ran a flag up the pole and realized it was upside down, I would have brought that flag down stat lest there be any repercussions for a perceived unpatriotic act at the home of a political appointee.
And who runs the flag up the pole without then looking at it once its at the top - no one.
The fact that this flag was up for days tells you everything that we need to know about how Alito views the ethics of his job.
And Justice A-hole served in the military for years.
It’s not just his house.
Sorry. Doesn't work.
Facts be damned! I’m right because I said so!
I know this is hard for you, but people in high positions have different work rules, ethics, protocol, and professional standards than trolls on the internet.
Keep on deflecting.

Actually there is no excuse or valid explanation for Alito. SCOTUS just needs to ignore vulgar language and rise above partisanship.
Personally, he may want to reflect on why this sort of vitriol was directed at him and his spouse and whether he can strive to be the person his neighbor expects him to be.
The neighbors using expletive signs around kids? He just needs to keep his distance; they seem unhinged.
I’m surprised all of the rabid “SCHOOLS WERE SHUT DOWN FOR YEEEEEEEARS” posters here on DCUM didn’t pick up on this, as Don Beyer’s comms director did. There were not kids waiting for a school bus in the vicinity of this supposed profane sign in January 2021.

But he didn’t say that in one of his telling of the story, which suggests it was made up as explanation.
Turns out he and his wife are the partisan hotheads they’re accusing their neighbors of being. Not super neighborly behavior from the scummy Alitos, but what else can one expect from a liar like him.
And if it IS true, the proper response would have been a “kindness matters” or “love everyone” kind of sign. It makes zero sense to respond to F Trump with a mayday message.
Yes, to leap to an upside down flag for an alleged neighborhood conflict is a weird leap.
