I’m so sorry, PP. I was surprised that some groups will practice 80% at SS, while for other groups the practices are much more evenly distributed across locations that might work for most families. Wonder if coach location preference played a role.

Ours works for us but it means ours can never move up a level.
I was under the impression that the closure is scheduled for 18 months - what do you mean by "never"?

Anonymous wrote:KSAC family here. I wonder how this change will impact the KSAC yearly fees. Will RMSC have a higher KSAC-specific fees if that they’re having to rent expensive pool space? Or will they spread out the extra cost amongst all RMSC swimmers to soften the blow?
Anonymous wrote:Non-KSAC RMSC family here. Are a lot of KSAC families requesting site transfer tryouts at this point? Seems like it would make more sense for those who can't absorb the uncertainty in the planning (as I think most busy families can't!).

So it's "Glenmont or bust"...?
If they get it heated, it might actually be the best option from an all factors considered perspective.
Glenmont is an older pool and the mechanical often does not work properly. Spring and fall are fine, winter no.
Yes, that's the "as is" state.... in fact, the Glenmont current "as is" would be summer swim only as it has been for years(RMSC Olney uses this pool for some practices in the summer).
They are scheduled to have system upgraded and heaters added at which point year round is an option. The bathrooms are also scheduled to be enclosed and heated so winter is doable.

Most KSAC families that I talk to are staying put for the moment, the hope is that there will be a solution that works. I think most want to remain with the KSAC group because of continuity, they like the coaches and their kids have friends in the program.
If this was NCAP it would be every man for themselves, flee KSAC and find the highest end group elsewhere. But KSAC advanced groups are loyal to the coaches and close knit. They want to stay together if possible. They aren’t just looking out for themselves, at least until this totally falls through
These same considerations apply to advanced senior groups at any club. RMSC KSAC is not special in that regard. My kid would not leave their high level training group either unless I forced them to because the schedule/travel to the practice site was unworkable.
