No gut. Liked both. Pros cons of each but both great and likes the kids and vibe. He's a chill easygoing kid so doesn't feel strongly about weather and fits in anywhere.
Is one of the business schools easier to get into? I know at UGA they look at SAT scores which is odd to me since they apply once they are already college students.
I ageee it's odd. But I think it's not too hard at all to get in and you can always try again. It's more of if you will get the major you want. Wisconsin does let some in direct admit and it's half the size so it's harder. They also only give you one chance. Econ is in the business school at UGA
Everything points to UGA except outdated views about Wisconsin being better. So if I were you I would tell DS that 1) UGA business easier admit and 2) UGA less expensive
He knows that too- but will reiterate! Are those views outdated? It seems to be better according to many people and the dumb rankings.
DP- Those views are very much outdated. People just spew outdated information and there is a weird anti-south bias on here.
I agree there is a strong anti-South bias on DCUM. But there tends to be a fairly strong anti-Midwest/anti-any “flyover country” bias as well. Historically Wisconsin has been much more well regarded than UGA. Even though UGA has climbed in the rankings in recent years, many older people (ie, parents and grandparents of college age kids) will not know that UGA is now well regarded too but will still think of Wisconsin as a great school. How much will it/would it bother your kid/does it matter what people think? He’ll be able to get a great education and have a great college experience at either school and most employers who are hiring recent college grads will know a bit more than the general population about college reputations. Plus his grades and accolades in college will matter more than where he went anyway. so what does it really matter?

UGA's highest award is named after Wisconsin...Wisconsin is just in a different league.
https://outreach.uga.edu/resources/hill-award/
"The Hill Award is named in honor of Chancellor Walter Barnard Hill, who led the University of Georgia from 1899 until his death in 1905. Hill first articulated the university’s modern public service and outreach mission. He admired the close relationship that existed between the University of Wisconsin and the state of Wisconsin and led a pilgrimage of nearly 100 Georgians to see the “Wisconsin Idea” in action. As a result of this journey and the power of Hill’s vision, Georgia’s leadership endorsed Hill’s plan for a modern, public service oriented university and backed that endorsement with increased support for the institution."

I’m from the south and know UGA has a great reputation too and i like the weather in GA a lot better than WI. But to me Athens is just ok, not as vibrant, not as fun, not as much to do as Madison. I think Madison/Wisconsin is the better choice.
Would you care if it's 22k more?
Oh man I didn’t see that. Yes, i would care 🤣. If WI is 22k more I would definitely choose UGA! UGA is a great school and Athens is fun. Take back everything I said before lol
