I still think the Commanders will move to Loudon near the silver line. this would also move it further from the Ravens fan base and closer to their practice facility. The dc city councilors will never approve a Commanders stadium in the city, even if Mayor Bowser tries her hardest to lure them to the RFK site.

Meh, Virginia is no longer a stalking horse for the commanders or nats. The state of Maryland is already bending over and thinking of England for the Os which the Ravens ready to demand at least what Angelo’s gets. This actually give the city some leverage

Your comment makes no sense.

The state of Maryland is preparing to give the orioles a ton of money to stay in Baltimore. The ravens will demand equal concessions to anything the Os get. That’s going to tap out Maryland. They are not going to turn around and offer the nats a stadium. Virginia will be giving Ted $1 billion, probably over the objection of local voters. There will be no appetite to get a baseball team too. DC now has leverage over the Lerners

I don’t think VA is done courting the Commanders. In fact, Youngkin’s deal shows Harris and his minions the art of the possible.

I’m sure they will provide plenty of opportunities for people to voice their dissatisfaction or support, but this is Alexandria, so all the public comment is just theater. I live here and I’m pretty excited for all of it!

DC could turn the arena into the District’s central homeless shelter. It is transit-accessible and there’s incredible capacity.

I’m looking forward to the announcement tomorrow. This will really burnish the legacy of the governor and Alexandria mayor.

I do however lament DC’s loss. Downtown continues its long downward spiral. It was our “Madison Square Garden”. Oh well. Maybe Potomac Yards will finally become somewhat interesting.

Tom Sherwood reports that event tents are set up at the Virginia site for an official announcement tomorrow of the big move to Virginia.

If the teams leave, DC has every incentive to declare any tax breaks capital one gets void and tax the hell out of the arena

As long as the new gym has dedicated exclusive use bike lanes I’m for it.

Yep. Hopefully we can get rid of some of the unhinged council members now that voters see the consequences of their soft-on-crime policies.
