It would be really weird to be short and date anyone 6 feet or taller and have your face buried in their pecs or belly button when you hug/dance.
Also, my husband and I fit like a glove during sex. He can also easily pick me up. How does a short woman even wrap her legs around a tall guy—she can’t.
Not disparaging what other people like, but this is specifically why I just was not into dating much taller men. I'm 5'4", so not tiny but also not tall. I dated a few athletes in college and after and the feeling of turning to my date and just seeing torso was so weird. Slightly better when sitting down but you still had to tilt your head back to make eye contact. It's so uncomfortable.
My DH is 5'10" and I feel like we are the same general level when we interact, which I honestly think improves communication and might even promote empathy and other things that are valuable in a marriage. There was just something about being someone who was a full head or more taller than me that just didn't feel comfortable to me.
I'm sure those couple with the big height gaps just have different preferences than me, I guess the stuff that bugged me about it doesn't bother them. But I've never once wished my DH was any taller, and I don't think he wishes I was any shorter.

Yuck. That’s childlike. I was 4’11” in 4th grade.
Some men prefer petite women, some men prefer 5 ft 7" 235 pound thick ums such as yourself...nothing yuck about either in the eye of the beholder
Yeah, that’s me. Thick ums.![]()
Men that crave women under 5 feet- I’d worry about and keep my young daughters away from.

Almost all my tall friends have complained about the men they attract at one point or another (and often seem to date short men, which seems kind of like a last resort or "settling" situation) and meanwhile the shorties have no problem getting men whatsoever.
I am fairly average height and tend to stoop a little and I've also had multiple experiences of very tall men thinking I was shorter than I am and when I tell them my height and stand straight they get disappointed. A lot of them seem to have genuine fetishes for short women
They must be ugly. Tall and ugly doesn't count. I'm 5'9 and never had issues attracting men.
Some taller women have that sort of rectangular build or they remind you of a giraffe. No guy wants a date with Trans Herman Munster.
NP. Some people are a lot of things.
Two can play that game. Some shorter women have a jowly look or a fat midsection that reminds you of a toad. No guy wants a date with a braying Bette Midler.
But what does that have to do with any given woman? Don't tell me -- you're going to call some poster here tallish and fat next, right?

One question this raises for me is how much height of a potential mate impact instinctual attraction (you see someone and think "yes I want this person") versus attraction ideals (the list people have in their heads of generally what they are looking for physically in a mate). Speaking as a woman, I like the idea of a tall guy, like over 6'. But when I was dating, I didn't like how I felt with men that tall. I didn't actually enjoy like having to crane my neck back to look at them when we were close together, and I didn't like feeling so much smaller than the person I was with. I wound up marrying a guy who is 5'10", and while obviously his height was not the primary driver, I don't think I'd actually want to be with someone longterm who was any taller.
What this means for men, I don't actually know. Maybe they like the idea of really short women but then, like me, they discover the reality of a big height difference is kind of annoying. Or maybe the opposite is true, maybe they go into dating thinking they want a model type -- tall, thin, long lines. But then they discover they prefer how they feel around shorter women more.
