I’ve got to agree that Aftersun hits hard. The imagery and the symbolism. The preciousness of a raising a child and the idea of depression as a parent. I just really felt this movie.

It's also very funny - something that is not really mentioned about the movie. I always laugh when I see it.

I'm the PP who mentioned - yes it is funny!! I forget sometimes about the humor as it's context humor. The cinematography is to die for though isn't it?!

Long before I realized how impacted I was by addiction issues in my family, I found myself sobbing through the following movies in the theater and not really being able to explain why:

28 Days
Rachel Getting Married

The first one is not even a good movie but I started crying about 5 minutes in and never stopped.

Nomadland. After thinking I shouldn’t focus so much on making money and material things, after watching that I felt the need to work harder and focus even more on money.

This is why I can't bring myself to watch this movie. I know I wouldn't be able to take it.

it's not a horrific, sad cry. More a bittersweet cry. You should watch it!

And with a very unique tone/style/voice whatever you want to call it. It just stood out in so many ways.
