Rumor is Speaks is headed out west. Will he get PVI over the edge?

SJC runs this town. That much is clear. Until someone beats them, y’all need to be quiet.

2nd place in the WCAC is nothing to be ashamed about.

As lacrosse continues to grow in VA, especially out in the Western suburbs, PVI will continue to remain a regional powerhouse.

I believe Loudoun County is one of the fastest-growing counties in the Country.

PVI football should be better but that's a different story.

great news as a previous poster implied it wasn't going to be full time employee in the building since baseball coach and basketball coaches run the athletic office.

"PVI has 1200 students and 30 of them play varsity lacrosse? Catholic rate is under $20K while boarding at G-town Prep closer to 70K as an example. The current head of school is not going to add a new staff member simply because they may be able to coach the lax team and the current staff members do not want to or are not qualified to coach the lax team. Easy to say what they should do. They may have a new school and campus but tuition per student is what funds extra activities. PVI also does not travel like other schools such as Gonzaga and STA. I am not hopeful that they will be able to bring in a "full time" lacrosse coach. Nor do I expect them to. It is not a comparable position to other schools."

PVI parent here.

The PVI lax program is rather popular at the school and has far more than 30 kids in it. Probably closer to 70 - 85 students when you include the JV program.

PVI is known for its nationally-ranked basketball program and its baseball program has historically always been towards the top of the WCAC. Other than those two sports, no other sport, other than lacrosse program, no other athletics program has sustained a high level of success in the WCAC. The football program while it has made strides since the move out to Loudoun campus, still hasn't even won a championship and plays in the "B" division in the WCAC.

The infrastructure is in place as a result of Bob Watters building the program, I can't understand why the school wouldn't make the investment to field a very competitive program in the region.

I'd prefer to have my son's HS coach in the building year-round as they truly get to know the boys on and off the field.

There is a lot more to life than X's and O's.

You also have to remember that some schools like PVI have tuition that is almost half of other schools like many in the IAC. PVI is primarily a basketball school and does not have the budget for a full time lacrosse coach. Most likely there is not a current staff member qualified to be a coach. Where are they going to get a full time person? It is hard enough for the public schools to get coaches and the budget for PVI is similar. It is worth mentioning that despite this the team is competitive with the IAC schools and may have finished second in the IAC last year if they were in that conference.

Need to give the Gonzaga head coach at least another year or two. I believe the Spring of 2024 will be the start of his 3rd season.

There are pros and cons to having your head coach as a full-time staff member who works in the building year-round.
