Why can't they hire a teacher who happens to be a lacrosse coach - or some other full-time role in the building (development, athletics, communications etc etc. )
STA head lax coach works full time in their communications and athletics office. Georgetown Prep's head coach works full-time in their athletics office.
Bullis and Landon's head coaches are full-time teachers.
SJC head coach is a PE instructor and health coach.
PVI should examine area programs that have had sustained success over the years and try to replicate what they have done in the coaching ranks.
PVI has 1200 students and 30 of them play varsity lacrosse? Catholic rate is under $20K while boarding at G-town Prep closer to 70K as an example. The current head of school is not going to add a new staff member simply because they may be able to coach the lax team and the current staff members do not want to or are not qualified to coach the lax team. Easy to say what they should do. They may have a new school and campus but tuition per student is what funds extra activities. PVI also does not travel like other schools such as Gonzaga and STA. I am not hopeful that they will be able to bring in a "full time" lacrosse coach. Nor do I expect them to. It is not a comparable position to other schools.
