Not so bad compared to the rest of these.

Family friend’s teenage son fell out of a golf cart while playing golf, broke his neck and died. The poor dad saw it happen from behind and didn’t think much of it until his son didn’t get right back up.

A friend's aunt fell in the shower. She was knocked out. Her big toe plugged the drain and she drowned.

A woman in my neighborhood was carrying groceries into the house from her car, kids were helping, a tree branch fell and hit her on the head killing her.

A friend of a friend was swarmed by fire ants, her BF immediately put her in the car and headed for the ER, she died before they got there.

There was that family from SF (mom, dad, baby and dog) who died a year or two ago hiking in Ca. I think it was concluded that they died of dehydration.

The first time I visited DC, it was on a high school field trip in late May. The climate here is dramatically different from where I grew up, and I was hallucinating & had severe migraines from the DC heat by the end of the trip. I was not the only one. Was super super dehydrated.

Knew three basketball players who dropped dead of heart issues — two on the court at practice (separate incidences, they didn’t know each other) and another while out jogging.

Weirdest thought was neighbor who was killed when a freeway sign crashed down on her out of the blue. Left late teen to care for herself and sister.

She was looting a clothing donation box, she lost her balance on the stepladder she was standing on, and when she fell, her arms got caught inside the box and the stepladder fell down.

“The fall broke her arms and wrists, which were trapped in the box. Her feet, meanwhile, didn’t quite touch the ground, leaving her hanging. There she dangled until 8:30 the next morning, when she was finally found.”

The temperature fell to 21 degrees that night, as she hung by her broken limbs.

I know a similar story. Person fell asleep in the bathtub and drowned. He was a medical resident and was tired from a long shift including overnight.

Was this on the Long Island Expressway? I remember that accident. It was someone slightly famous, but I can't remember.

It was the director Alan Pakula who died that way on the LEI - a pipe came off a vehicle, bounced off the roadway and in through his front windshield impaling him.

The mother of an acquaintance died in a freak accident. She was a passenger in the car with her husband driving and they had just purchased a large TV which was in a box in the back of the car. They got in an accident and the TV flew forward and decapitated her.

My husband knew a girl who accidentally killed someone as a teenager. She was drinking at a party late at night with other teenagers. When she got in the car to leave, she drove over a guy who had passed out on a leaf pile along the road, killing him.

A metro VA woman and her baby were trampled to death by an elephant in Kenya.

The husband of a dear friend died of an epileptic seizure while giving his toddler sons a bath. My friend was in the kitchen around the corner making dinner when her husband apparently seized and fell forward into the tub. Their boys, 2.5 and 4 at the time, thought he was playing a game and by the time my friend came in, he had drowned. She is the strongest person I know.

A guy I went to high school with died in a car crash during our junior year, which was not unusual in and of itself. However, he crashed his car into the living room of another kid we went to high school with. She and her family were fine and his family paid to repair the front of their house.

I also know 3 people who have died in school shootings since the first one who went to Columbine. That is becoming less unusual and is not a freak accident.

I know zero people who died of COVID, strangely.
