You probably work for the Central Office or Board of Education.
Take one look at the test scores from the 90's and college acceptance and look at them now. Looks to me like a quality drop. National Rankings aren't something MCPS can tamper with. In my opinion, McKnight and Wolffe are driving MCPS into the gutter. They'll be known as the worst MCPS administration ever.
That's probably why they requested $220M dollars - to put lipstick on the pig? My bet is that you'll still see un-renovated, overcrowded buildings and poor academic showings no matter how much money you give them.
They need the $220 million to implement the Honors for All program countywide. This will help raise up the whole county to new heights.

So did I and the education is not better. The only better I see is writing and computer skills. They lack the basics in math in es. The no textbooks, little homework lacks any type of reinforcement. The lack of reading books is also bad too.

Agreed. My son is in the class now, easily earning As, but he still doesn't understand what he's doing. It's not even remotely like what I learned in Algebra II. No wonder I keep hearing that so many kids go on to struggle their first year in college.
Really? Your kid must be slow then. The curriculum is excellent. My kid managed to get a near perfect score on their MCAP even.

I don't mind if teacher's salaries are raised, but parent's can't renovate buildings or re-allocate classroom sizes. That responsibility falls squarely on the shoulders of the Central Office and Board of Education. Those will be the best metrics and indicators of how wisely the funding is spent.

Nah. I certainly don’t expect MCPS to raise my kids. But I would like them to educate my kids.
I don't expect them to even educate anymore. We heavily supplement outside. The free tutoring has been fantastic.

They are not breaking down numbers by kids so we don't know if the 8th graders doing Algebra 2 are ok or not. But, I don't think it's well taught.

Mine are on the same math track as yours. They are because we worked with them to fill in the gaps. Yes, they did offer it 20 years ago.

I'm not convinced the writing is better. These kids don't know the writing process and are overly reliant on Grammarly. I've been stunned by what teachers are willing to accept in AP English classes.
And yes, the lack of reading books is insane to me. I don't know how this happened.
