Agree that Meren is not my fave…at all…but last night she either wanted to get to bed or she realized she needed to flip in order to flip in order to get the number of votes needed to approve a calendar in February.
Is it possible that people liked the original blue calendar compared to the other colors - because this amended blue calendar wasn't put forward as an option? Saying "my constituents like the original one so I can't vote for this one" when they haven't talked to constituents about this one and they may like it better is a pretty weak argument.
So is 23/24 set in stone and they may revisit out years? Or are they talking about additional discussion about 23/24?

It seems to me there are plenty of comments throughout threads about cheap flights, availability of family vacation time, and the difficulty of finding daycare or signing up for camps to balance things out.
I'm talking about the school board meeting. Many members main concern ( and it is understandable) was what the teachers wanted.

What is really behind why the folks that voted no oppose the updated version? Is it really just about that stupid extra day in June for teachers?
It’s obviously better since it gets us out earlier, drops the observance day for Veterans Day which was not needed and fixes that dumb 2 day week after spring break in the earlier version. And complaining about “5 day weeks” was the only way for parents to voice disagreement in the survey with the new religious holidays. No one was willing to say the obvious - a big part of the results on “5 day weeks” is a proxy for discontent with the new religious holidays.

IDK. There is no perfect calendar that will make everyone happy and adopting a calemder is a time suck that makes everyone angry. There is something to be said for no having to deal with in for the next 2 years.
Didn’t the majority of the community say they preferred a multi-year calendar approval?

I would have preferred that Friday in August. It has been one of the few unencumbered days I can use to prepare for the start of school.

Amended blue for 3 years was approved but watch out on years 2 and 3. They may make some tweaks including for Super Tuesday if needed.

TBD but they’re not set in stone. They discussed that they could make some changes if needed.
