Anonymous wrote:While they adopted the amended undercover/secret (according to LJ Cohen) blue calendar for 3 years, I think the only things you might want to count on for 24-25 and 25-26 is the start date was my own personal takeaway from their conversation.
What did come up in discussion was that the calendar is an operational function of FCPS and should not be under the umbrella of the SB. (Finally! Something I agree with them on!)
Many of the SB members that voted no and fell on their swords last night because of it said it was because they met and heard from so many families/teachers in their district that the original blue calendar worked best, that is what they were supposed to be voting for, #of 5 consecutive weeks were now lessened, teacher workdays blah blah blah, but we have to walk away with a calendar tonight. Despite this—they still voted no. No compromise. A lot of cutting off of their nose to spite their face type of stuff.
Agree that Meren is not my fave…at all…but last night she either wanted to get to bed or she realized she needed to flip in order to flip in order to get the number of votes needed to approve a calendar in February.

I love you teachers. But dang. Every discussion revolves around you all. And you have that Wednesday because they aren’t bringing you back on a Friday in august.

It seems to me there are plenty of comments throughout threads about cheap flights, availability of family vacation time, and the difficulty of finding daycare or signing up for camps to balance things out.

IDK. There is no perfect calendar that will make everyone happy and adopting a calemder is a time suck that makes everyone angry. There is something to be said for no having to deal with in for the next 2 years.

Did they approve for 3 years?
Amended blue for 3 years was approved but watch out on years 2 and 3. They may make some tweaks including for Super Tuesday if needed.
Amended how?
TBD but they’re not set in stone. They discussed that they could make some changes if needed.
