Agree with that, 1 out of 3 in a watered down tournament not so great and some bad losses against good teams. Nike + UA + plus multiple high end showcases diluting the value of all of them.

While I tend to agree with your post, STA played Bullis (the regular season and IAC tourney champion) closer than anyone else in the league.
STAs first line guys can keep up with anyone other teams first line guys it’s when you starting putting in the 2nd line their depth really shows.

STA doesn’t have the talent or depth to compete with the big boys. They will win pre-season games vs weak teams, walk into league play with inflated egos, and then lose to the top IAC teams per usual. Happens every year.

I'm going with Bullis as the top team in the DC area next Spring.

Nope. STA finishes 4th behind Landon. Bullis and Prep will battle for IAC Championship again in 2023.

I'm cool with SJC remaining as the #1 seed in pre-season polls for next Spring. They won't be nearly as strong in 2023 as in 2022. They had a special team this Spring and deserve a ton of credit. Hopefully, Bullis and SJC play one another in an actual game next year - no one cares about scrimmage results in February. Bullis returns almost everyone on their roster from last spring except the Harvard LSM and another D-man. Whether or not Wade comes back from Australia, I don't think it really matters as the Bulldogs have the talent to run with anyone.
Prep has talent but too much internal politics and "hero ball". When a faction of parents, alumni, and boosters try to oust the current coaching staff, that just never a good omen of things to come. One of your best-returning players is rumored to be transferring to McDonogh - again not a good sign.
My dark horse picks for next Spring are Landon and Gonzaga. Both from what I heard looked very competitive at the NHSLS event.

I would go:
1 - SJC. Until someone knocks them off think they sit at number one. Question is can they fill the gap with so many Seniors having graduated. Still a lot of talent there in the ‘23s and ‘24s and with one of the best (if not the best) FOGO in the area should give them a lot of possessions.
2 - Think it is a toss up between Bullis, GP and Gonzaga. Would generally lean towards Bullis as top here, did lose some talent but a lot returning, the big question is what impact does their loaded ‘25 class have. Showed pretty well at NHSLS but the spring will be the testing ground. Gonzaga and Prep have plenty of talent, question for them is can they rebound after sub par seasons and avoid injuries and play as a team.
5 - Landon. Decent amount of talent, a bit harder for me to gauge as I don’t know them as well.
Overall think it will be an interesting and somewhat wide open spring amongst these five teams with a few of them capable of taking the top spot. ‘24 talent is pretty well spread out between these five schools so it should be a fun season.
