This just makes me sad. One of my kids is scared to take off his mask because he’s scared of his teacher (a whole separate issue, yes). Incidentally, he was the one of my two kids who came home sick last week, despite the whole class masking.
It is very sad if there is any moral pressure put on kids to keep masking to make irrational teachers feel comfortable. That this Twitter teacher thinks her risk is higher now than during the peak of the Omicron surge just because the kids unmasked (while she presumably still wears her N95) is a testament to her irrationality and lack of informed judgment.
At my school, teachers are pressuring kids to mask. My kid was very excited to not wear a mask. His teacher said he had to. Now he's been told, okay he doesn't have to, but he still feels like he kinda has to, so he does. I suppose it's good that he cares what his teacher wants?
Yep - same

I just got such a notification yesterday and I just shrug. Both my siblings' kids caught it despite wearing high quality masks, while my cloth masked kids never did. I am sure that at some point they will inevitably catch it like everybody else, masks or not. This virus is here to stay, and you can run but not hide. The downsides of masks outweigh the marginal benefits in schools.
I don't agree. I'm sorry about your siblings' kids and hope your kids don't catch COVID. Most people haven't been infected and I hope to avoid it rather than accept it, both for myself and for my children.

Ugh yuck. I think pressure either way sucks. But I wonder if those parents have worn a mask for 8 hours for days on end. I live by a target so go there far too often. The people who are reliably unmasked are the workers.

Her Twitter feed reads like a cautionary tale for all of us. People, embrace life and not irrational fear.
