Quantico is the problem. There is always a bottleneck around Quantico and Stafford. The road needs to be widened. Or a beltway put in. This was not an unusual situation: traffic is almost always bad around those areas going both ways.

You must be pretty low IQ yourself if you can't figure out that it takes at least a day to get the National Guard activated and in place, as many news stories have explained. Rescue vehicles and people could not get to the stranded motorists who needed them most due to the same conditions and incidents that caused the motorists to be stranded. I'm sure the NEXT governor will be just delightful even if he is twice as smart as you seem to be.

Wow. Do you even realize what a mean-spirited jerk you’ve become?

Paella for everyone! More exposure for Jose!

He’s a super nice guy, except that he HATES his political opponents. The level of vitriol was a bit much for us.

Jose Andres has “political opponents?”

I agree. He does so much but how dare he oppose that orange blob and the terrorists he sent on 1/6.

Haha. Is that what PP meant?

MAGAs are pathetic.

You would be surprised - one of my friends and her family were stuck on 95. They were driving up from Florida. She told me it was terrible. They did not have food or water with them, nor blankets. I always have blankets, water, snacks, jumper cable etc, the basics in the car.

We were on the road b/c our first flight home was canceled and our rebooked flight was cxl’d due to weather. We rented a car to get home. We are both from areas where driving in snow is the norm during winters. One of the biggest issues is that VA does have enough equipment for this type of storm.

Waze had us get off 95 before the back up and we stayed on alternatives routes. Rt 1 closed down for a short time but we were able to find a route around the short area that was blocked with downed wires.

He has lived here for eons. He knows we cannot handle snowstorms especially while it is still actively heavily snowing

I’m really surprised he left at 1pm in the middle of a snowstorm of a hellish drive. He should know better.

And all he had was an orange and Dr. Pepper.

Yeah, the lack of common sense is astounding.

This alone should disqualify him from ever being elected Senator again. What a moron.

What do you all pack to eat for what you expect to be a two hour drive?

Why did he expect it to be a two hour drive in the middle of a raging snowstorm?

Why did he leave at all?

He had a Senate meeting that evening at 7 I think. So he left himself plenty of time.

I take three hour trips all the time because we have a shore house. I bring diet cokes for me and water for the kids.

I have kids so I always have a few snacks in the car. Right now, there are two protein bars, a singles bag of goldfish, and an individual package of biscuits. For trips like that, we usually pack a lunch cooler with road snacks like a bag of beef jerky or some beef sticks (e.g. something with protein), some cheese crackers, a couple of pieces of fruit, and maybe a container of trail mix. And we usually each fill our water bottles or we get lunch/breakfast before getting on the road and top off our drinks for the road. It may be light eating for 24 hours, but we would have enough to make several snack meals for each of us during that time. We always have food because of emergencies. I'm paranoid about that.
