This thread has aged beautifully.
How would the NG have prevented the murder of the young womanin Charlotte? Be specific.

First person to do that gets to be the next Mayor.
Didn't need the national guard here to do that. You need federal prosecutors prosecuting crimes (they weren't and it isn't the DC AG's responsibility) and you need the funding for the MPD and various social services, which the GOP has cut.
They only thing I've seen them do is spread mulch and pose for selfies. Those jobs seemed like they were already being done here in DC. They seem nice enough and I'm not intimidated by them, but I'm sure many of them would rather be back with their families and doing their regular jobs. A large percentage of NG are involved in law enforcement agencies, which are tremendously short staffed now across the country, so it doesn't seem great to pull them away from that job to spread mulch in a NPS park.
On DC land, DC takes care of these things. On federal land, it is supposed to be the National Park Service. Maybe it is time for the feds to turn that land over to DC to maintain so it doesn't require calling up the national guard to deal with it.

National Guard, in measuring public sentiment about Trump’s federal takeover of DC, has assessed that its mission is perceived as “leveraging fear,” driving a “wedge between citizens and the military,” and promoting a sense of “shame” among some troops and veterans
Yes. NG and military officials - this citizen has been 100% turned against the National Guard. I despise the sight of them. I now know viscerally what an occupation must feel like. Great job!
Honest question, how has the NG negatively impacted you?
Nothing. PP just wants to preach about all the "injustices" of the world. Seeing DC cleaned up was very triggering to some bleeding hearts.
