The discussion/point is not about increasing white voters so it's beside the point. He already had a slim majority there. I think he got more of them because he promised stuff like no taxes on tips, IVF for everyone, no trans people in sports, 1k for newborns, etc. And probably other reasons too.

The recent Dem victory in Miami shows pretty clearly that a whole lot of Republican-voting Latinos have learned their lesson and that the GOP has lost them.
