Interesting paper here that runs the numbers.
It’s not good.
Be interested for a Trump voter to provide detail on how the Trump policy will improve our economy.
“We find that these steps would result in lower US national income, lower employment, and higher inflation than otherwise. In some cases, economic conditions recover over time, but in others the damage continues through 2040.
And despite Trump’s “America first” rhetoric, these policies would harm the US economy more than any other in the world, particularly trade-exposed sectors such as manufacturing and agriculture. In some cases, other countries would enjoy stronger economic growth than otherwise after receiving inflows of capital leaving the United States.”

“A federal trade court ruled President Trump didn’t have the authority to impose sweeping tariffs on virtually every nation, voiding the levies that have sparked a global trade war and threatened to upend the world economy.
The decision on Wednesday from the Court of International Trade blocked one of the Trump administration’s most audacious assertions of executive power, under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977, and sets the stage for a possible appeal by the White House.
“The court does not read IEEPA to confer such unbounded authority and sets aside the challenged tariffs imposed thereunder,” a three-judge panel wrote.”
Trump just keeps losing. Total loser energy.
Total TACO energy!

The TACO thing has spread very quickly. I kept hearing students saying taco over and over today and asked one what it meant. Teens are using it to mean "I don't think you'll do that dare" or "no way he/she will do that". For example, Student 1: "Brenden is going to pratfall at graduation." Student 2: "Taco".
I'm not sure it has replaced cap/no cap, but they seem to be using it in place of cap.
Between learning what TACO means in reference to Trump and learning that the Chipotle where one of my students works now uses "Trump" in place of 86 when talking about toppings/food items that are out of stock... sigh... sometimes Gens Z and Alpha give me hope.
