I just want to clarify—I don’t personally know the individual who approached me. Yesterday was the first time I’ve ever met her. But I don’t think she is racist nor did I feel attacked due to my race. Please do not call or imply that she is racist on my behalf.
I agree with her that this is a hot mess all around (and, yes, this is Dr. Taylor’s mess). I think we should all give each other grace for this situation we are all in. If this person is open to it, I am happy to chat over coffee in real life. And as I told her in person, I admire her bravery for speaking up.
Don’t make this into something it’s not. And if that’s too vague for you: stop with this narrative that she hates Asian women.
Thanks from an Asian woman.
What is the point of that conversation beyond to bully her into agreeing with you? What is wrong with her wanting her kids in a new building that is safer and free of mold?
PP: you will need to ask the white woman what the point of the convo was. She was the one who approached the Asian lady screaming.
There is nothing wrong with her wanting her kid in a new building. As one of the candidates (Creed) said, if she wants to go to Crown, she can go to Crown by herself. 🤷♂️
Actually no, she can’t go to crown by herself. That’s not how this works. It’s not a “choose your own adventure”. Stop saying if you want to go to crown so badly just go then. You’re showing how little you understand this process.
Also, it shows how completely unqualified Creed would be for this role. Glad I know not to vote for someone who doesn’t even understand how her desired position works.
She actually can. Creed said it can be done on a case by case basis, and Creed is right. She can COSA her kid to go to Crown. Or she could have been super happy with option D, which would have sent her kid to Crown.
Candidate Brett responded directly to her. If the building is genuinely unsafe for her kids, it’s unsafe for every child in the county. This means Wootton is not a good holding school.
If there is money to fix Wootton for other kids, then Wootton can also be fixed for Wootton kids.
You can’t have it both ways. If Wootton isn’t safe, why do pro H parents want Magruder kids to be in an unsafe building?
And, yes, she can COSA out to anywhere assuming her kid has legitimate medical needs.
That’s a red herring bc of course no one wants magruder to be in an unsafe building. And they won’t be bc they won’t use Wootton as a holding school until repairs are done. And those repairs aren’t going to happen for 5-10 until the county has money to actually renovate magruder.
I’m not trying to have it both ways. Wootton is unsafe full stop. No one should be there until a lot a work is done. That’s why we are so lucky we have crown as an option to relocate Wootton 😁
It’s not a red herring. If Wootton is “unsafe,” Magruder would be even more unsafe considering it has a worse FCI per MCPS own analysis. You just said yourself, Magruder kids won’t even get to use Wootton as a holding school for another 5-10 years. So why should Wootton get to randomly jump the line in front of Magruder? Magruder wants to go to Crown. Their school is in worse condition—no one disputes that. Even if you want Wootton to go to Crown, Magruder should get to use it as a holding school before Wootton kids go there.
Bc they can’t indefinitely have Magruder there without a real renovation plan and budget. I agree it’s not fair for Wootton to jump over them but crown is three miles from wottoon and a whole lot further from Magruder so moving wottoon to the building instead makes a lot of geographical sense AND saves the county a whole lot of money. It’s not “random”. Saving money will hopefully eventually get Magruder the renovation they rightly deserve. See, we do agree on something!
Magruder here. A lot of people like to talk for us without actually talking to us! You are absolutely right MCPS can indefinitely house us at Crown, a state of the art facility no less. This is exactly why we must use Crown first. Once we are in Crown, there will finally be an impetus on MCPS to pay attention to us and make sure we don’t get ignored year after year. Us being in Crown will force the issue. Us waiting for another decade (two decades?) while Wootton is in line for renovation will result in another whole generation of Magruder kids being ignored. We are a high FARMS school with a lot of black and brown kids, and while some people don’t think it—we do matter.
The choice for Magruder is either force MCPS’ hand by going to Crown or wait until a kid dies or is seriously injured—no I am not exaggerating.
Also, I would much rather commute to Crown than the hell that is Wootton Parkway traffic.
All of that may be true but you being there to “drive urgency” does not make money fall out of the sky.
Where was magruder months ago to fight for this btw? You can’t show up a couple weeks before the vote and hope they take up an amendment. The time to fight for magruder going to crown (ie crown being the holding school) was before the superintendents recommendation.
There is a lot of creative ways for MCPS to get money. Have they considered selling all their unused plots of land that are literally just sitting there?
Where was the fight before? What an a**hole question. While we are truly impressed by the speed in which Wootton families rallied together, this is not reality for our families. A lot of us are working parents making ends meet (high FARMS again). We can’t just show up at board meetings at ridiculous times during the day. But that doesn’t mean we don’t care about our kids.
You are low income? You have time to post here but not show up?
Not PP but umm...considering that this is in the evening and most board meetings are between noon and 4 PM... ???
Try to have a little bit of empathy maybe? Or is empathy only reserved for people who agree with you?
Are they low-income and do they not get any leave or flex time? The Wootton meeting was not during the day. There are thousands of kids between Wootton and the feeder schools, so surely more parents could have showed up...
Not PP, but this was in response to the Magruder poster. What Wootton meeting? They were talking about how Board Meetings at the BOE are always at very difficult times like 12 PM to 4 PM?
They can submit a written or video testimony.
You still have to be picked??? Are you ok? Getting a spot to testify at BOE—written or by video—has become the hottest concert ticket in town.
Instead of looking at this and saying how can we make the process more equitable especially for families that are struggling the most, your answers are: why can’t you just be there? Are you even low income? Can’t you just take off work? Can’t you just use flex time?
You people are so high up MCPS butthole, you no longer have critical thinking skills.
Pro H supporters are so desperate for the recommendation to pass they are now resorting to blaming Magruder and asking but are you even actually poor?
They are so quick to call anyone who doesn’t want to go to Crown “racist” because they keep driving this narrative that you must not want to go with “Crown kids” when in fact that’s THEIR actual insecurity. We have receipts too!
Some of these most vocal pro H lunatics are the same ones who were crying about going to Crown when option D came out. Now why would that be? Back then, they weren’t talking about Wootton being unsafe. Back then it was all we wanted to stay with the cluster. I can’t believe MCPS is sending us to Crown all by ourselves. What’s wrong with going to Crown? Was it because YOU didn’t want to be with Crown kids?
+1 We all know Dufief folks are the real ones who don’t want to go to Crown with Gaithersburg kids. The same clowns who are screaming about anti H being racist were also the ones begging for community support to rally around them to oppose option D because they didn’t want to go to Crown by themselves.
Yes, screenshots of your names attached to those begging messages exist as well.
The screaming of racism is a self projection. It’s giving white lady Karen weaponizing of racism energy.
I'd rather have my name attached to a post asking to stay with a 50 year community than attached to the racist/classist/elitist garbage others shared.
Wait but why would you want to stay if the building is unsafe? (Could it be because you are actually the one who doesn’t want to go to school with Crown kids by yourself?) whoops… I said the quiet part out loud.
Nope, not why. Like everyone else, Dufief was also shocked when H was announced. Dufief would have been happy with anything that kept them with Wootton (E-H) and was planning to fight for Wootton improvements right along with the rest of the community. However, once the superintendents rec was given, the only option that kept Dufief with Wootton was H so maybe you can understand the pivot. The alternative removed them. Are there some Dufief parents that value a safe school above all else, sure. But the majority of Dufief just wanted to stay with their community of 50 years. But they have to fight for the option that kept them in, not a make believe one like the Rockville alternative.
We demand to speak to the head Karen! Who is the Karen in charge?
I knew about HBIC but today I learned a new acronym: HKIC.
Their HKIC is pretty obvious. It’s the Karen weaponizing and screaming most loudly about racism.
Maybe still some learning left to do? Doesn’t seem like you know what a Karen is…
A Karen is an entitled white lady who is overly confrontational toward minorities. Sounds like someone we know…
Dufief Karens are even more special because they pretend to be social justice warriors calling out “racism” as a shield and projection to their own racism.
Oh okay. So are you claiming that saying that FRES and Rosemont students will ruin Wootton’s academic excellence because of their racial demographics isn’t racist? Because that’s what I hear them calling out.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Why was mcps scared to piss off Churchill in the original options but it doesnt care about pissing off wootton and magruder in option h? If theres no valid reason for wootton to sue, then there wouldn't have been grounds for Wayside to sue either right? Option h seems to anger a lot more people than just Wayside from a future votes for boe or county counsil perspective.
Because MCPS believed Churchill would actually sue. The real money has always been at Churchill and Whitman.
I don’t think it’s really about Wayside threatening litigation - I don’t support it, but I am pretty sure Wootton is going to sue. It’s sort of unfathomable to me how people are still failing to understand the main motivations here. Even if you don’t personally agree with them, it’s abundantly clear that the financial concerns for MCPS are real - they simply don’t have money to renovate all the schools that desperately need it. The enrollment concerns are real - current MCPS enrollment in these area elementary schools is about 75% of what it is in corresponding high schools. You can disagree with either of those things, but you can’t, in good conscience disagree that MCPS and the BOE clearly believe these concerns to be their reality. This is why so many people who are anti-h are having to descend into conspiracy theory land to justify their stance. Anything political, whether it’s threats of litigation or the strength of different communities’ representation on the board, is just background noise that supports the reality that all the decision makers are living in.
If they were going to sue, they'd do it by now. There are probably tons of lawyers at that school and they collected a legal fund, someone pocketed.

We objected to options A-D because we were being singled out as the only school in the cluster who would have been moved. The number of students that would have been sent to Lakelands and Crown was so small that we worried about our kids who are currently at Frost and Wootton having a small number of kids join them. We were not worried about the make up of the students in options A-D. We were also worried about all of the split articulations and the impacts that it would have on those communities. A lot of those island schools already have become well connected to their current feeder middle and high schools.
We would have preferred options E-H that would keep us with Wootton. A lot of friendships and activities are interconnected with our Wootton Cluster schools and we didn’t want to be cut off entirely.
Options that use Crown as a holding school (even if slightly under enrolled) will cause the least disruption while MCPS gets community input on long term impacts.
Dufief Karens can’t get behind Crown as a holding school. They know as long as Wootton exists, they will be the ones sent to Crown (whether it is right now as in D or later as in EFG) without the rest of Wootton. They are the ones scared of going to a school without the “right demographics” and what that will do to their home property values. It’s all self projected righteous screaming with them.

Not that hard, many have done it. And, written, video or in person all are testifying. Stop using low income, those who cannot take off, etc. as talking points when that's not your situation. If it's important to you you'll go. Very few at Wootton are true low income. Just people claiming low income in overpriced homes they cannot afford.

Sure, totally understandable. Judas also probably really needed those 30 pieces of silver 🤣

We were not worried about the make up of the students in options A-D. We were also worried about all of the split articulations and the impacts that it would have on those communities. We would have preferred options E-H that would keep us with Wootton. A lot of friendships and activities are interconnected with our Wootton Cluster schools and we didn’t want to be cut off entirely.
As a non-Dufief bystander, I will also vouch for them that they repeatedly urged Save Wootton to coalesce around E or F before the superintendent’s recommendation and were told no because some members didn’t even want to imagine spending a single day at Crown lest MCPS pull a bait and switch and refuse to send them back (a thing which has literally never happened). Magruder would have been on board with this, FRES would have been on board with this. But the Wootton walkers were just so confident they could demand every little thing they wanted.

No, it wouldn't, as there is no money to remodel Wootton, and it makes no sense not to use Crown except that a few parents are throwing a tantrum over it. If more cared, they would have shown up at the meeting or donated money to the fake legal campaign that is a money grab for someone.

I am the “first Asian lady” who was approached. Hopping on here because folks are telling me about crazy allegations of racism.
