What? Your post screams insecurity and that you're a bulldozing parent who works tirelessly to remove obstacles for your soon to be adult daughter.
1.) This is not a bad announcement, this is normal i.e no conflict of interest.
2.) If your kid is good enough and wants to skip playing in college, I am sure they could Play for DC Power regardless of which local youth club they played in.
3.) The normal pathway is for girls to play in college first and or in the USL-W and then try for DC Power or other pro league.
4.) If anything it speaks well of the McLean Director of Coaching to be hired in that role. There are not too many other qualified Directors of Coaching in NoVA that would be a good fit.

I think you are worried about nothing. You don't have to grow ups in McLean to go on to play for DC Power. That is not how that works. But cronyism, in all areas of life, will always be a factor for employment/ selection... but in this case, it just doesn't affect that many players willing to forgo college in a Club like McLean.

That guy is all about “rules for thee, but not for me.” Another mediocre charlatan in a broken system. Only looking out for himself and his “personal brand”. This mercenary changes more roles than DiCaprio changes girlfriends.

So now to play for DC Power you need to pay fees to Mclean? Perfect example of cronyism in youth soccer

"We are thrilled to announce that our Director of Coaching Omid Namazi has been hired as a coach for the DC Power women’s professional soccer team competing in the USL Super League. This is an incredible achievement and a testament to Omid’s expertise, leadership, and commitment to the sport.

We are equally excited to announce that Omid will continue in his role as Director of Coaching here at MYS. This dual role will bring tremendous value to our club, particularly in enhancing the player pathway for our girls program. This unique connection to the professional game provides our players with increased exposure, insight, and inspiration as they pursue their soccer goals - whether at the youth, collegiate, or professional level.

Having a direct line to the pro game helps strengthen our coaching curriculum, elevate our training standards, and build meaningful connections that can open doors for our athletes. We believe this opportunity will raise the bar for what’s possible within our club and we are proud to support Omid in this exciting new chapter.

Please join us in congratulating Omid on this well-deserved opportunity and stay tuned for more updates as we continue to invest in the future of our players"

I think there are some open slots on their Rec teams.

Why would anyone want to play on rec league .

Because they didn’t get an offer the travel team. Pay attention.

You should pay attention. The kids want to play on a travel team, not stay in rec. If they don’t get an offer, they need to find a different club.

Save your money. Your kid is built for rec.

We didn’t get anything either - however we only attended one tryout. There were so many kids, it was overwhelming

Have you seen VPSL standings? Older girls are 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.

I know VPSL. The competition is almost rec to be honest. GA will be a good test and then we will see by then. As the kids approach high school, talent does not stay in RL anymore. Therefore RL becomes a rec league.

Yep that’s what the RL stands for. This is common knowledge.

There haven’t been this many GA options until this year. Where were all of the regional league players going before?

The top ones for to other GA teams in the area or other ECNL teams. The rest stays in RL.
