Cynthia Nixon is too talented an actress to be mired in this hot mess.
+1 to all of this.
It's all so forced, PC, woke, ugh.
Going after someone who is married. Ick. And that it is a friend of a coworker? And thinking they are just too cool for school. Such a gross person. Awful storyline.
It is a gross storyline but I find Miranda to be much worse than Che. Miranda has a husband. If she wants to get divorced, do that. But no. She asks him to do what Che did to her and immediately gets frustrated. And lamely says she in love with Che. Eww. Just all around. Do they want us to hate Miranda?
Lots of disjointed storylines for the other characters.
It’s television. (whispers these are not real people)
You sound so uptight.

Anonymous wrote:Charlotte used to be my favorite character when I watched SATC in college. I felt I had the most in common with her and she was what I wanted to be when I was in my 30s.
Watching her now that I’m 40 is different. She doesn’t seem to have grown or developed and I find her personality and mannerisms grating. I hate how she is still trying to impress exactly the right people to achieve social success in her tiny, inconsequential world. I know that 20 year old me would still love her, but 40 year old me is disgusted because I’ve lived and developed in a way Charlotte apparently has not. She’s gross.

Then you probably shouldn’t bother watching, because a lot of the target demographic
is those (older ladies), and plenty do want to see these kinds of storylines instead of pretending their lives ended at 38.

I mean seriously, did you hate watchers think this was going to be a Golden Girls reboot? I mean even Blanche was trying to get laid on the regular.
All of them were trying to get laid on the regular!
I am rewatching Golden Girls now. I’d much rather hear these dames talk about sex.

I am trying to parse out how much of this is my own ageism (or that I find Miranda to be really unattractive) and how much is that it’s just bad writing etc. I think it’s mostly the latter but also some of the former (even though I’m only a little younger than they are!).
It always feels to me like these characters actually stopped living when the show/movies ended and now they are in 2022 NYC, like Dorothy or something. It’s all very bizarre and unappealing.

This has been rough to watch. There are glimmers of hope, as I still love Carrie and the gay guy and the new friends. Carrie is always a delightful and witty breath of fresh air. Honestly, the only parts of this show I find completely unappealing are Charlotte and Miranda. They’re both boring AF with boring storyline. Idk maybe I watch too much Real Housewives shows and am ready for a cast revamp, lol. If they write those two characters off the show and continue bringing in fresh faces and better talent, I think the show would do just fine.
Miranda and Charlotte as characters are way past their prime. Nothing to see there.
