Depends on what your objectives are for your kid, and what the alternative activities would be. There are plenty of people who would love for their kids to be more challenged, not less challenged. It depends on how kids can cope with losses and frustration - if they cannot, then they are not going to learn much from experiences like this. I would love to have seen more of this when our kids were at VYS. But it's not for everybody, for sure.
To say it was a challenge is an understatement. I would prefer a more competitive game where there is an ebb and flow where there's at least some success. A few passes connected. A few shots on goal. Something.
I thought the 2009s had some good players although i didn't see the game.

VPL has typically had a limited (maybe no) schedule in the Spring for older age groups - probably due to high school soccer. My guess is some of the older Vienna teams may have decided to participate in NCSL in the Spring to supplement their game schedule. I doubt they are leaving VPL.

Any teams can enter VPL State Cup. They do not have to be in the VPL league.
