Hadn't he completed 20 years of service? Did every other person in either the active military forces or Guard who had accumulated 20 years decide to stay in because we went to Iraq? Doubt it. No idea what his personal thoughts were about Iraq at the time of the invasion, because so many democrats fell for the big lie of the Bush administration, but if he opposed it good for him.
