+1 There were a lot of reasons and it was close.

Is gerrymandering new?

No, it has been around a long time.

North Carolina Congressional district 14.

Kate Barr is a progressive Democrat who switched her party affiliation and is running in Republican primary against U.S. Rep. Tim Moore. She's doing so to highlight gerrymandering. She is open about who she is and what she believes in so no, she's not trying to dupe voters - unlike some Democrats turned GOP have done. This race started out as a long shot but is now competitive!

If she wins the GOP primary she will run against a Democrat. If she is to win the seat she is looking to make as much Good Trouble as possible.

I'm making calls for her! https://www.katebarrcanwin.com/

Dave Sundberg announced Monday that he is running for Congress in Maryland’s 5th congressional district (Steny Hoyer’s seat, who’s retiring.)

Sundberg previously served as Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI Washington Field Office, where he oversaw the bureau’s investigation into the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. In announcing his campaign, Sundberg said he plans to focus on defending the Constitution and protecting democracy.

Before joining FBI leadership, Sundberg served in the U.S. Air Force, worked as a detective in New Hampshire, and later commanded the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team. He was removed from his FBI post in 2025 during the Trump administration.

Neal Dunn says he’ll serve out term, quashing resignation rumors

The Florida Republican announced his retirement last month.

Of the 8, 6 are from vulnerable seats and the remaining 2 are those who feel like Mike Johnson has lost control of the Caucus and has ceded too much authority to Trump.

To make matters even worse, it's being reported that Neal Dunn is rethinking Mike Johnson's request to stay on and will resign effective immediately.

I’m callingBS. Why would they resign? All fake, stupid rumors.
Signed a liberal who isn’t duped.

This.
Less chaotic. Which would frankly be a plus at this point. Time for Congress to focus on the nation and give partisan politics a rest. Trump has clearly lost the plot and the cabinet is woefully incompetent. Time to hit glass.
