Gentle reminder that people ages 10-17 are children. So, yes. Definitely.

Where is your source?

136 children died of influenza just this season so far! My source: https://gis.cdc.gov/GRASP/Fluview/PedFluDeath.html

Do you seriously need a source to see that the death rate of COVID19 for the 10-19 age group is not zero?

H1N1 was terrible. I had a friend die from it. He was healthy and 34 with a 8 month old baby girl he was over the moon about. I had it and was hospitalized with pneumonia.

They are relying on people who test positive to self report their locations and interactions which could be faulty. I'm not suggesting they are intentionally being untruthful but there could be mistakes. I would think in the interest of public health we would have more information about those who have tested positive.

Consider this: A contractor friend of mine went to a client's home in Georgetown. He called from his car on a whim to let him know he was there. Guy said "Hey, I'm under quarantine for Coronavirus but I'll stay 6 feet from you". My friend: "I'll talk to you from the car on the phone".

As long as the stupid persists, this will be active.

I don’t remember paying really any attention to that as a news story back in 2009. Was it covered less, somehow less scary, or am I just getting old and less cavalier?

Let's say containment had been achieved way back at the beginning, whether contained to China or just a few people here in America.... does the virus then just completely die off? Or is it just allowing time for a vaccine?

I don't think it will ever be eradicated without ending all intl travel. But "flattening the curve" was achievable - and still might be. So yes I guess it's the latter. Buy time not just for a vaccine but also so that infrastructure can keep pace with the rate of seriously infected.

Correct. Check the travel forum tho

They have shared a ton with Italy.

They need Italy financially.

If the death rate on this thing comes down, say, all the way to 1%, that still seems like a crisis of Biblical proportions. 1% of half the world dying is 40 million people deaths—over half the number who died in WWII. Is that truly what we’re up against? Seems hard to fathom, but I guess I don’t know where the eject button from that scenario is

About a third of unvaccinated people in the US get the flu every year, and of course with half of people getting the flu shot the community spread is somewhat limited. So yeah, it doesn't seem unreasonable to think that north of 1/3 of people getting this is possible. If there are roughly 300 million people in the US, 1/3 is 100 million, and 1 percent is 1 million.

Except that is not how it worked elsewhere. There weren’t even over a hundred thousand cases in China.

The community in New Rochelle is directly linked to cases in Bergen County, NJ and Rockland Count

Which is why Cuomo sent in the National Guard
