After all this it’s almost tracking exactly like SARS 1 timing wise. SMDH!

That's REAL good news!

Death rates are going down worldwide, except for a few countries (like Brazil).

One of the Stanford statisticians (who was widely derided on here earlier this spring) pointed out that no matter what a country does (regarding shutdowns or not), every place more or less follows the same pattern. It's just the severity of the pattern that varies. This, combined with the Italian doctors' observation about the declining viral load (which makes perfect scientific sense and is following the pattern of may viruses in weakening over time) does make me think we could really see this virus fade away over the next few months. I don't think it'll disappear completely but it'll become far less lethal and much more akin to a "bad" flu season.

Yep!

I saw it posted on this thread a few weeks ago and it seems to be the case.

Here's hoping it will continue to be the case

so no second wave?

Yep and seems to jibe with the article from yesterday from italian doctors claiming that the virus is weakening.

We’re seeing this elsewhere, as well. My theory is that the virus isn’t “weakening” but rather there are a limited number of people who are susceptible to the worst illness it causes. See the article pp posted about T-cells — there are at least three studies showing that some % — perhaps as high as 50% in some areas — of people have T cells that recognize and attack COVID-19. They think these can be from SARS and other yet unidentified coronaviruses. Hence the high number of people who don’t get it when exposed and/or are asymptotic.

While reducing Covid-19 infection is everyone’s goal, falling patient numbers present a problem for scientists researching treatments and vaccines.

I do also wonder if it may be a bit more seasonal than folks thought. Maybe not quite the flu, but a larger effect than folks have been talking about recently? I just think it's striking that the Southern hemisphere was strangely unaffected for the most part early on despite seemingly conducive conditions to the virus spreading and now it's the reverse.
