Is VYS Phoenix 06G the best/highest tier team in that age group? My niece got an offer there and is asking me for an opinion. I’m clueless. I just officiate games on the side to fund my vices.

U13 and above is real soccer on a regulation field with the normal number of players. Video helps improve soccer IQ and best for kids U13 and up.

Must depend on the age. So, not doubting your experience, but it's not just a Red vs. Black thing ... our Red team has none of the stuff you've mentioned.
Guessing your son is younger than U13? The games recorded have been U13 and up.
Not sure why they just don't record all the way down to U9s?
It's very expensive to tape games I think. And I don't know too many U9's that would watch even 5 minutes of a game. I'm sure the parents would
McLean doesn't even tape their ECNL games. Must be nice to have footage available to send coaches if you want to play beyond HS. All the McLean dads have to buy GoPros and run up and down the field taping their kids

could also be concern about trips to tidewater and richmond, which I think would be border on pandemiparanoia, but we live in the bubble, so I fully expect some of that in some areas around here

this could be simply because 06 and older are high school and VPL doesn't always have a robust spring season because of all of the high school athletes. but I'm a VYS parent (girls side) and haven't heard that announcement. I wouldn't read much into it though.

CCL2 would be a better fit.
Nonsense. Vienna would be in Premier CCL on both girl and boys side. In NOVA, they would be an upgrade over Stoddert, NVSC, LMVSC and maybe better than Herndon on the boys side, especially at younger ages, and if CCL allowed them to retain more in-area talent, they would be more competitive at older ages.

Not that it was anything they didn't "get" ... but they did not have enough players, several games with no subs, or even playing down a man because not enough players showed up ... there was never any use of Black or Red players to support the team in those cases ... the coach was disinterested and the players discouraged etc.
This was a few years ago at this point.

My kid on black stopped practice a month ago and won't start again until mid-January where it will be once a week.
