Thanks for saying it! We are newer to BSC and had none of these issues described here.

It really feels like a specific group of parents has some specific demands. I imagine they are trying to follow the IG crowd and simply need to STFU and hope their kid does not quit by the time they play 11v11 and really feel what a full-sided game feels like.

4 girls on 08s made USYNT rosters from Bethesda. Three of them are U17s and the other is also a play up on the 08s. You people can hate all you want but that is better than any team in the DMV.

Yeah people need to chill. This is all not that important in the grand scheme of things. The world has way bigger issues to worry about. Moving on.

So what’s an example of this? What teams do they hold back “just to get results”? What are the results? Which teams? Teams their kids are in? Bethesda is the most competitive team in the DMV. Thankfully, there are lots of teams that have great showings in terms of placing kids on profession teams, high-level, academies, D1, and so much more. I actually want the DMV to be highly competitive and a thriving environment for high level kids. Bethesda seems to be a huge factor in that.

So the realistic translation for that is maybe 3 actual hours of training, 4 tops per week and 30 - 40 minutes game time on the weekend depending on position

Winter break, Spring Break and all other kids of mini breaks here and there

The top kids at BSC in the 2015-2013 age ranges practice 3x a week, play in some format another 3 days whether it is free play at school, recess, neighborhood, at least 1 private or group training.

During the summers, they are in full day camps which are 6 hours.

This schedule is light and not even close to burnout.

6 hours of playing soccer?

Most full day camps are 9-3. They break up the time so that some time is ball mastery, juggling, etc. They also have lunch, snacks, water breaks, etc.

If you are shocked by this, it is okay. Just don’t expect your kid to remain A team for long.

This is not unique to soccer and applicable to most pursuits in athletics and the arts.
