I could see across the river at National harbor but in the middle of low density residential with lots of narrow streets? Heck run a ferry over to national harbor from there to increase restaurant traffic but don’t dump 5000 cars on route 1 at once that’s crazy. I’d be less shocked if they were proposing a monorail frankly.
it would be more than 5,000 cars, because the metro station was not designed for the capacity required for this use.

That budget does not include the $100 million infrastructure budget. $100 million in the arena - which could actually bring revenue - seems like nothing to be concerned over.

The naysayers on this thread largely comprise a small group of petulant Maryland residents who think the world revolves around Bethesda.
Maybe a few NIMBYs in Virginia, too.
Literally, the only fans benefiting from this move are Alex residents. The rest of us, whether elsewhere in NoVa, DC or MD, lose out. Very simple.
that is fine since they will end up paying for the whole thing anyhow
It will be all Virginians that will have to pay. Virginia will be the guarantor of the bond.
Yes, I keep saying posters say that Alexandria taxpayers will be screwed, but Alexandria is only committing $50-60 million to the project. The other $2B is being guaranteed not by Alexandria taxpayers, but by State of Virginia taxpayers.
So again I ask, why would taxpayers in the southwestern part of the state want to subsidize billionaire Ted Leonsis?
