Truth, her behavior is opportunistic to the extreme.
Opiates are a very good guess. Nothing numbs the pain quite like pharmaceutical grade narcotics and that would explain the financial betrayal Jen alludes to in her posts. Jesus people are extra vulnerable to narcotics addictions because it’s usually prescribed by a Dr first so it feels clean cause it’s medical need not emotional (but damn if it doesn’t kill emotional pain while it’s at it) Mormons lead the country in narcotic usage.

Not all narcissists come from bad homes or have suffered unusually deep trauma, though.
Jen, despite coming from what looks to be a great family, is a histrionic, needy mess with deep deep insecurities who puts on a lot of false fronts and uses people. They're not her "tribe" they're revenue streams to be exploited. She doesn't "serve" them she drains them slowly like a calculating vampire. It's her post Capitalist business model. She soothes any feelings of guilt by also posing as a woke warrior fighting against injustice. It's a deflection.
Brandon might not be in recovery from alcohol addiction but what about opiates? His pupils sometime scream pill popper.

Good insights. There has appeared to be a gross lack of accountability in her world. It’s Jen’s way it the highway. Perhaps that overly permissive parenting fed this beast. When she declares how perfect her parents were (besides forbidding trash music) I always think there’s some kind a major problem she’s hiding. Dysfunctional families often have these all or nothing storylines, where everyone is forced to repeat the family myth. Again my spidy senses go off, it’s all a little too perfect. That’s also symptomatic of an addicted family system. Was religion their drug? Is her new drug being a social justice princess? Hell if I know. Something is way the heck off though.

Sex it is. Can’t possibly be anything else. Could be porn, gambling, pain killers, online chat sex lines, gay tendencies at the local adult video theater, I’ll advised business investments, perhaps anger issues or lashing out to certain children. Who knows. I’m sure there’s something out there.

I’ve not been fully convinced Jen is a narcissist, though her behavior has shown strong symptomology. Generally narcissists can’t maintain long term relationships, her friendships last decades, and her family of origin keep her close. Could we be seeing a severely codependent woman having chronic trauma responses surrounded by enablers who haven’t know how to respond to her dysfunction. She feels pressure to drum up the finances as a single mom so she hasn’t taken time to stay silent and truly recover. It’s like there’s a protective personality operating every time she opens her mouth and we all feel the phoniness.
I guess the reason I sought this thread was it all just hasn’t added up and my counselor mind loves to solve hairy messes like this. Call it a gift or a curse I don’t know.
Whatever it is, it’s unhealthy. By her own admission, her father instilled an unrealistic portrayal of how great she is. It’s great to have a champion who believes in you and supports you and loves unconditionally, but the way she describes her father’s adulation of her and her siblings I think may have been so over the top the result was narcissistic. Perhaps not in the sense you describe but the results seem similar. I don’t know the Jen means to be the way she is; she doesn’t know any better because she’s always had this sense that’s she’s just a bit more special then everyone else and her ways are pure and everyone should just get on board, because Daddy told her so from the time she could crawl. Just my take. I’m no head shrinker.

I get how you feel convicted but Im not sure if it's sin. As Xians we are supposed to call out hypocrisy and expose the wolves in sheep's clothing and Jen is a very furry wolf. I hope someone has come on this board and had their mind changed about her by stuff they read.

So many people who go on reality shows end up with ruined marriages. Chicken or egg? Did the fame do it, or is the fact that they chose to go on a reality show (you couldn't pay me enough, i think most people feel the same) a sign of narcissistic tendencies so that their marriages were already doomed to fail at some point anyway?

Y’all I’m fasting today and I’m convicted I’m getting way too much pleasure out of Nancy Drew’ing these people’s life. I feel a thrill when someone local spills the beans on something they know for a fact. Pretty sure I’m in sin at this point. So I formally repent. I got addicted to collecting truths to offset the double speak the Hatmakers engage in regarding their lives. It all felt so dishonest listening to Jen’s videos I became obsessed digging up truth. Music is good though. I'll give them that.
Is Lamar Stockton still the worship leader? He is talented and there were a bunch of really good musicians at one time. There was the dude who play violin, he was awesome. I guess Tray and Lamar are about the only ones who are there that I remember. I think Juan and his partner, (can’t remember her name sadly) still go. They were, if I recall part of the Methodist church even when they first launched. It was some sort of loose affiliation if I remember correctly.
Pastor Hat is definitely a try hard. Tray is a trust fund baby- and has not seminary training that I know of. I assumed Brandon did. I didn’t know he didn’t. That’s interesting.
