It is a memorable event. Very memorable regardless of when it took place.

Either you were there or you weren't. Weird.

It’s like saying you were at the World Trade Center on 9/11….but you were actually in Minnesota.

He’s a compulsive liar.

He does have a problem telling the truth.

And that’s a problem for any prospective VPOTUS.

I don't think Republicans sound credible when they pretend to be upset about Walz telling a few lies over a decade of time. What about all of Vance's recent and ongoing lies??? Vance lied multiple times during the VP debate alone over a period of 2 hours onstage, we don't need to comb through years and years of clips.

Vance lied about Trump peacefully transitioning power (there is video evidence of Trump inciting a mob, and unsealed evidence released yesterday adds more proof).
Vance lied about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, OH being "illegals" (he was fact-checked on stage, they are there legally)
Vance lied about never endorsing a national abortion ban (he's on audio saying he would like to have a national abortion ban)
Vance lied about Trump supporting and being responsible for the successful passing of Obamacare/ACA (lots of evidence of Trump going on record saying he campaigned vehemently against it and wanted it defeated)

Vance is the one who lies over and over again to rewrite history. If you care about lying, you'd hate Vance more. Vance's record is one of the worst among politicians. It wouldn't take much effort to outline the several hundred lies Vance has told - including countless in his "Hillbilly Elegy" book that people from his community said was full of lies and embellishments.

So do you really care about lying or compulsive lying? Because there are far more instances of Trump & Vance lying than Walz.

Hard agree. Vance was a lying machine on that debate stage. It was almost sociopathic how Vance could so effortlessly lie with a straight face and be so unbothered. It takes real audacity and arrogance to publicly lie about facts that could easily be looked up and proven false. His words are not his bond. He'll say anything to create a false image and seize power.

If Walz is a compulsive liar not fit for office, what does that make Trump?

OK but we are NOT TALKING about Trump. It's not a if one person does this - but let's not talk about it because we have something worse to talk about. If a person does X - they have done X. It does not make X go away. I don't understand Dems who keep deferring to how evil Trump/Vance is (I totally think they are evil yes) so that somehow absolves any wrong doing of every single kind from Walz/Harris. I mean the way some folks would have it - NOTHING EVER that the Dems do is worthy of a conversation about it not being successful, correct, perfect. I get that GOP sucks and I get that Trump is a disaster but the biggest issue of why Dems had Hilary who couldn't beat him the first time is they focus totally on the other candidate. Calling the other person the worst person on earth does not make your person the best person on earth. It may be totally true that your person is better, but you have to stick with the facts for why your person is better!

Walz is better because he has a soul, heart and brains.

JD hates women, children and democracy, plus he’s dumb as a stump.

Anyone with an average iq who watched the debate knows Vance is a highly intelligent, well educated man. To deny that is ridiculous. You don’t like his opinions , so you say he’s dumb. I guarantee he’s got a higher iq than you, me, or Walz, and is more educated as well.

Excuse me, there are plenty of us with high IQs on here; fancy degrees from selective institutions around the world; and/or PhDs, MDs, other accolades, and the wide and deep knowledge base to match.

I agree with you that Vance is highly intelligent, well read and quick-witted. Unfortunately he has not used that intelligence for the good of the country. He has debased himself to a serial liar and grifter he himself despises, in his pursuit of influence and wealth. Like his tech bro mentors, he's relishes taking risk: he saw a shortcut to the Presidency, and he took it, regardless of what sins he might have to commit to get there. He's the epitome of greed and opportunism.

A disgusting personage, truly.

Agree that he has wasted the advantages that he was given. Not sure though that he’s really intelligent. He did not strike me as particularly thoughtful or well-educated to be honest. Quick with his talking points to be sure but I did not see evidence of depth or an ability to think critically. He is facile and simplistic. And as you say a blatant opportunist.

Agree. He’s quick in a street-smart way, with an eye to the main chance. He speaks smoothly but is no intellectual.

Walz reported in the debate that he is a 'knucklehead.'
As Scott Jennings put it, Walz is too dumb to know he is lying.

You’ve got to be joking - that was a non malicious lie while Vance spouted toxic stream of malicious lies - such as Trump saving the Affordabke Care Act when it tried hard to kill it twice and nearly succeeded and doubled down on the he’s that illegal Haitian immigrants are eating pets nonsense and he lied about not supporting a nations wife abortion ban when he supported a proposed nation wide 15 week abortion ban.

Then Vance refused to concede the truth that Biden won the 2020 election (dozens of court cases have rejected Trump’s claims of election fraud).

It is clear which VP candidate has a far more tenuous commitment to truth,

They don’t believe any of their own arguments. It’s all bad faith.

This. And it’s getting hard to wade through all the garbage they post.

I don’t know about others, but the bs used to be upsetting. Now it’s so insane and stupid that it’s hard to believe there’s much sincerity.

+1. Not to mention which Presidential candidate. Not sure why Republicans and the media are pouncing all over Walz when half of what comes out of Trump’s mouth is a lie. Double standards!
Within six months of Trump's announcement of his presidential campaign, FactCheck.org declared Trump the "King of Whoppers", stating, "In the 12 years of FactCheck.org's existence, we've never seen his match. He stands out not only for the sheer number of his factually false claims, but also for his brazen refusals to admit error when proven wrong."[105] In 2016, Trump suggested that Ted Cruz's father was involved in the assassination of John F. Kennedy.[106] He also accused Cruz of stealing the Iowa caucuses during the 2016 Republican Party presidential primaries.[107]
Trump claimed that his father had given him "a small loan of a million dollars," which he used to build "a company that's worth more than $10 billion,"[108] denying Marco Rubio's allegation that he had inherited $200 million.[109] A 2018 New York Times exposé on Fred and Donald Trump's finances concludes that Donald "was a millionaire by age 8," and that he had received $413 million (adjusted for inflation) from his father's business empire over his lifetime, including over $60 million ($140 million in 2018 currency) in loans, which were largely unreimbursed.[110]
Trump claimed repeatedly on the campaign trail in 2015 that the actual unemployment rate of around 5% "isn't reflective [of reality] ... I've seen numbers of 24%, I actually saw a number of 42% unemployment". PolitiFact rated this claim "Pants on Fire," its rating for the most egregious falsehoods.[111] Jeremy Adam Smith, writing for the Greater Good Magazine, said Trump's falsehoods may be "blue lies," which are "told on behalf of a group, that can actually strengthen the bonds among the members of that group". As a result, he posited, Trump's dishonesty does not lose the support of his political base, even while it "infuriates and confuses almost everyone else".[112][113]
In 2015, Buzzfeed News' Andrew Kaczynski reported that Trump, despite having claimed to have the best memory in the world, had a history of "conveniently forgetting" people or organizations in ways that benefit him. In July 2016, PolitiFact's Linda Qiu pointed out that Trump "seems to suffer bouts of amnesia when it comes to his own statements". Kaczynski and Qiu cited examples of Trump's stating he did not know anything about former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke, despite statements showing he clearly knew who Duke was.[114][115] Over three months before the 2016 presidential election, Trump claimed it was going to be "rigged".[116]
