Comments like this one really concern me--as does the American insistence on low gas prices indefinitely and forever. There is a social cost to being so reliant on cars. Europeans, who pay almost twice (on average) what we pay for gas, have known this for decades and use gas taxes to support and improve public transportation and mitigate the effects of pollution and climate change. Two dollars a gallon for gas is simply not sustainable--or right.
