You've never understood people who feel the need to 'prove themself' with something trendy and different, like hybrid cars, tatoos, or unusual names for their children. When you had your girls, you went with the classics, and dressed them accordingly in dresses with smocking and patent leather mary janes. Abby and Anne are in high school now, and fight like cats and dogs, though both are good kids. Abby is doing an internship at the NIH this summer and hoping to major in Biology at Dartmouth. Anne just finished her sophomore year, and is still trying to find her groove. You've been encouraging her to try out some clubs or at least continue with the clarinet, but she mostly just texts on her smartphone and reads fan fiction for the Hunger Games.
Maggie is quite a bit younger than the other girls, and having her was your husband's concession to you when acquiesced to his desire to move your family from Chicago and family to come to DC for career opportunities. By that time, you were a bit more relaxed, and willing to bestow a more playful name, albeit only as a nickname. You fear perhaps you may have been a little too lenient with her however, as while Maggie is both a source of light and laughter, she terrifies you. She's hardly in middle school, and yet just last month, she secretly bought some hairdye and dyed her hair green. Green! You are fairly certain tatoos are coming next...
