Ha! Not far from the truth. But what clubs outside of VA? Trying to figure out what the travel will look like.

ECNL has there back against the wall. not looking to good..

How so?

What are you blind? ECNL will be gone I MLSNXT 2 years. Lol

Why? Because a few local/middling teams switched to GA? My kid has played in both leagues, so I'm not advocating for one over another, but nothing is really changing on the girls side until you start seeing the top clubs move. If that starts to happen, it's a different story. For HS aged kids, ECNL is hands down the best place to play for competition and recruiting. For younger kids, time will tell.
poster is right about the middling teams. Saw a post on x one was ranked in the 70s the rest in 100s. Seemed like a panic move/acceptance of business decisions. Sad when clubs make moves like this. Never know how it attracts kids trajectories.

It's still clear what the top boys program is.

Agree to your point. ECNL will phase out. The older girls will benefit from ECML but the younger upcoming girls will benefit from GA. But the original poster is right. ECNL is going out.

The logic doesn't make sense.

If this is how you feel more scouts will be attending GA events because there's present and future prospects to review.

You have to keep in mind that scouts are looking 2-3 years in the future at players considering when they first step on campus.

True but it's not like ECNL has been far and away the top dog forever, alot of the "top teams" in ECNL that people reference wasn't even in ECNL 4-5 years ago, they were in the Girls DA. Clubs transferred over when USSF shuttered the doors to DA, and ECNL was able to grab them before GA could get up and running. I say all that to say, clubs will go to where the money is, and they are not tied to any league long term, and the top dog status is a fluid thing.

I think we are saying the same thing. Right now, for the older kids, ECNL is the place to be. Younger kids should be considering all options. And the reality of the ECNL vs. GA debate really should be all dependant on the specific age group/coach/team that your kid is in. We don't have a PDA or Solar club here in DC where one is the obvious top choice for those that can make the team, we have pockets of decent teams/coaches all across the landscape, but continue to water everything down by adding more and more to the mix.

I can see the top clubs hanging in ECNL as long as they can, but if GA takes all of the middle level teams, then what can ECNL do? Either make a more elite smaller league where they lose money and people have to travel more, or take on lower teams and have an even bigger separation from top to bottom. Either way, we the loss of the boys income, I think they are in trouble as a company

ECNL got greedy with the Boys league. They had a great thing on the girls side, and were arrogant enough to think they could replicate it on the boys side. Ideally, you'd have one organization focus totally on the girls (ECNL) and one to focus totally on the boys (MLS Next), and don't put restrictions on clubs/teams to choose one. But we all know none of this is done with the best interest of the kids at heart, and is just a money grab by the "adults" in the room. Sad.
