It was the IAC Championship for JV today. STA vs Bullis. Bullis won 11-9. Bullis pulled down several players from Varsity (those that had little to no playing time this year). A couple of STA parents told us that they did not pull down any Varsity players for the game today.
Bullis was up by 6 or 7 goals going into the 4th quarter. They put in the "true" JV and it became a close game.
Congratulations to Bullis for winning the IAC title! They had a great season!
False. All the players on the JV team have been the same players since day one. The same attack, same middies and same poles and same goalie in addition to the FOGO. It was the same players that played SA with the same outcome earlier in the season. It is JV people and if the IAC would enforce the rules if any about swing players that i would understand. 6 of the starters are freshman, 2 8th graders, 3 juniors, 2 sophomores.
Congrats Bullis JV Lax!
Back to Varsity and the big game today people!
Same numbers for different kids? Go watch some of Bullis games on video. The evidence is there as lots of the same numbers also played varsity games all year. Parents even said they played down at the game. Why would they say that?
STA was 3 sophs and the rest fresh and 8th graders. Juniors playing JV? Wow.

I happened to play lacrosse in the Ivy League in the 90s, I played football in the fall, and played hoops in the winter even though I was not any good at it.
While times are a lot different today from when I was playing ball, I want my son to be able to "take a break" from lacrosse and play at least a 2nd sport in MS and HS. I'd be wary of any HS coach pushing his players to "play year-round lax".
If you look at most of the top players in college, I'd estimate 75% of them played a 2nd sport in HS and really excelled at it too.
Uncle Rico, no one cares about your resume. Lot's of former players on these posts, you do not need to "qualify" your statements with I am smarter because I played in the IVY league posts. However, you are correct 2 sport athletes are making a comeback. UVA and UMD know this. However, I think kids can play a primary sport year round so long as the "off season" is truly that maybe once or twice a week to keep the skill set strong.

Prep is now on the refusal to play list with Landon.
Stop contacting current students enrolled at other schools and that might change.
Lmao - if you only knew how many lax families from DMV schools have reached out about transferring. Not easy to transfer to St. John’s since the school is at capacity every year.
SJC may be at capacity, but it’s a glorified public school and a safety for academically successful students. They offer tons of scholarships to try to lure academically strong students and talented students, whether in athletics or the arts. I personally know multiple students who have received scholarships for academics, athletics, and the arts. Most students who get into better schools don’t chose SJC unless they want/need the money. At our elementary school everyone applied to SJC as a backup/safety and the only kids who attended were the ones who didn’t get into the better schools or wanted the scholarships. Back in the day it was the school that kids went to after they were kicked out of other schools. SJC is trying desperately to change that reputation, but still not an academic powerhouse and not a school many kids want to attend, unless it’s their best option. That being said no one from an IAC school is transferring to SJC unless they have to.

While Landon is peaking at the right time and playing their best ball of the season, don't think they have the fire power to run with Prep for 4 quarters.
Prep's attack combo of Kabari, Horning and Burns is the best attack unit we have seen in a while. I think Prep's goalie is also very underrated.

Anonymous wrote:SJCHS had a great team last year and a very good one this year.
They like to ask why Prep and other schools won't schedule them.
They are partly to blame. SJCHS wants/has to schedule out of conference games early. Prep and Landon do not practice year round like SJCHS, and SJCHS only wants to schedule Prep and Landon in the first couple of weeks of the season. Prep is just getting warmed up and getting their team together, and Landon, who I hear has a lot of multi-sport kids and didn't even have its team selected before their spring break, do not want to play a team in mid-season form when they are just getting started. If SJCHS would agree to schedule other local powerhouses later in the season, when the field is more level, maybe other local programs would be willing to schedule those games.
Blah Blah Blah, Bullis-they also play year round as a team. The only teams that follow the rules in the IAC are Prep and Landon. Bullis, StA, and SSSA all practice as teams throughout the year in violation of IAC Rules.
Maybe the WCAC will divide into two divisions and that would open up room in the schedule for Ireton to schedule appropriate competition and and SJCHS to schedule more appropriate competition.
