Naive and apparently not a consumer of the news. There have been loads of such cases over the years.
Ok, I guess I just haven't had the time to read all the news about college admissions scandals over the years. "Loads of cases"? Really? I am just trying to live my life and raise my kids, just a regular person with regular friends and a regular life. Oh well.
Actually you are at worse stupid... and at best uniformed. Just like the pushy parents killing themselves at STEM schools like that is all one has to do. How can you "raise" kids equipped for life if you are completely blind to what is going on.
What now? What’s your problem?
My kid is in a Stem magnet because he loves science. I didn’t push him into it and I don’t see it as a ticket to a top 20 school. What’s more he is not alone. Most of his friends are really into Math/Science/Comp Science. They love what they do. Many are also good at other things. Some are incredible musicians, 1/3 are varsity athletes, some love to write or paint. Most are also highly social and they support each other . Yes they work hard but they are not one dimensional or socially awkward or whatever stereotype you have in your head. Luckily for ds there are plenty of schools in the top 50 that value academic excellence and don’t fill a huge chunk of their incoming class with hooked kids.
You know they have less hooked kids how?
PP is a future angry parent in the making. She will be blaming his poor exmission on now the rich, legacies, the blacks, the athletes, the hispanics, the college counseled. (i know I left some groups out)...but of course not her smug attitude and failure to be aware. Even though she did not say she was a STEM parent it was totally oblivious because she was oblivious to her surroundings like she was somehow above it all.
Who are you responding to? I am the PP whose kid is in a Stem magnet and I said I think he will probably not end up in a top 20 school despite his strong academic credentials because he is unhooked and he/we are fine with that.

There's a whole other level of egregious when you talk a game about how hard your kids worked to earn it or how important good values are, and you are doing the admissions equivalent of a gloryhole at the side door.

William Rick Singer is now reporting to authorities that 750 families paid him to get their kids in.
More parents will be getting charged with crimes.
This is the tip of the iceberg.
Singer wasn’t the only criminal doing this.
Bullshit. The FBI had him and other cooperating parents wearing wires for months to catch people on tape. I guarantee those 700+ names never see light of day. They’re already shielding at least one filthy rich family name — 1.5M to Yale? — because they cooperated.
Guilty?
What case is there without proof? Why do you think the FBI needed these people wearing wires last few months to catch the few dozen. They’ll never charge the other 700+. They got nothing on ‘em, sadly.

That’s insane.
Yup. Lots of dumb kids pretending to be better than the others. Sick, sick, sick.

Um, Pell grants are federal sources. Many students get aid. Harvard gets billions in federal grants. They don't get to take public money and have sketchy admissions practices.
So dumb. pell grant $5500 Tuition and room and board $72000... all of the financial aid is principally parent and legacy donation!! There are very few pell grant kids at ivies anyway. The federal money is for research. when I read these post i understand why Donald Trump is a hero to 40% of the populations... so stupid
