What annoys me is statisticly it was written by an ECNL parent who's kids club will never make playoffs.

At some point dont take everything so personally. I have a kid in GA mainly because they are close to my address and because i dislike the coaches at the ECNL program nearby due to an older daughter issue playing with them.

It is great for her. The style of play suits her. She is developing better than she would at the ECNL team because her GA team plays possession while the ECNL team is more direct. And that is OK. Different strokes.

But, OVERALL, ECNL is the far better platform based on literally every measurement. And to think otherwise is just copium. Nationals was a dominant GA team with literally every team making GA playoffs and winning multiple NC over the years. I am not sure any Nationals team made Richmond this year. That is not cherry-picked, that is data. The number of P4 recruits from ECNL vs GA is not cherry-picked, it is data. The ranking of the ECNL teams compared to GA is not cherry picked, it is data.

Will that change any time soon? Maybe but not in my kids soccer lifetime I dont think, so i am not worried about it.

And what difference will it actually make in the grand scheme of things? Virtually nothing. If you kid plays for UVA or Hopkins what will be the difference?

After years of high level play my oldest daughter is not going to play in college and other peers of hers (D1 ability) have decided to play D3 and get an academic education vs playing D1 at all costs.

Help you kid have fun and enjoy the sport and dont constantly worry about which team/platform is better than another.

As a parent with a kid on a highly ranked GA team that plays other highly ranked FA and ECNL teams. I can promise you at the highest levels GA and ECNL are very similar. I can also promise you that it doesnt matter to 95% of players in both leagues.

You want to sell ECNL as some kind of miraculous conception. Its not. Youre doing it because ECNL clubs would rather sponge talent away from clubs around then than develop it themselves.

As a parent with kids that have played both I disagree with your first statement and agree with your second. Take the top 20 teams at any age group in ECNL and look at their records against GA. It is all right there in soccer app.

Or look at Jeff cup or surf cup. Most of the time the top GA teams self select to the B brackets.

So forgive me if I don’t believe a “promise” from an anonymous poster on a random message board vs analytical evidence. 🙄

Completely by choice. Had multiple opportunities at D1 level but decided to go pre med public ivy instead of dealing with all the drama around college soccer. Good luck with transfer portal, internationals, and 25% scholarships😂

Yeah congrats to your kid - PP totally missing the point. Your write up was excellent and informative.

Then just explain the disparity between P4 recruits. Nothing else. Just that single data point.

And yet doesn't iamyouthsoccer will count all those National players as ECNL commits and not for GA? Again, this just shows the obsessive need to knock down a rival and build a sense of FOMO if you're not at an ECNL club -- regardless how true it is -- to keep the recruiting pipeline to ECNL clubs flowing.

It is an interesting comparison -- they didn't win yet like in GA but definitely had success -- but the problem I think is it's not a fair comparison. Those GA championship teams no longer exist as players and coaches turnover each season.

I guess if you want to make the point that they haven't won anything yet, ok, but I'd wager that they've maybe they've done better in Year 1 than any most other clubs. In either league it's not easy to win a championship. I mean the invincible Hawks have won how many in the last 5 years? 1, maybe 2?

What affect does Nationsls wins/losses have on NVA clubs?

Overall theres more than 10000 youth soccer clubs in the US if you add up all the different leagues.

There were 128 ECNL clubs last season I think.

NCFC is a fine club but, if they even move, it is not exactly a harbinger of doom for ECNL.

Using math, #57 out of 128 ECNL clubs makes them in the top 45%. Which again using math/logic puts them in the top half of ECNL league.

You can disparage all you want but this is not the type of club a league wants to lose. Once you get into the lower 20% of a league nobody cares is clubs stay or go. Other than general optics of change.
