It's 11 am. I've completed drop off, an hour of "volunteer" work at one of the kid's schools, and the manufactured errands. 1 hour until the gym and then lunch with a girlfriend at the club before pickup. Never said it didn't apply to me. I'm absolutely in the "it takes one to know one category."

You are not describing any of the women I know at either school, the majority of which are a partner at a law firm, government officials including members of the President's cabinet, bankers, and the like. Those who volunteer generally do so as members on various boards. They do also go to the gym daily, and try to eat lunch somewhere in there....

NP. What is the point of an ivy league alumni interview? These are well-known, prestigious schools with thousands of kids applying to them. Are the interviews required or just one-on-one information sessions?

PP, the interview is a very small part of the applicant's file. It's mostly a check to see that an applicant is living and breathing and not a total dud. It's also for PR, as the interviewer is the "face" of the school. We interviewers know that the interview does not make or break an applicant.

Okay. Then the treatment DD received was standard. She was accepted at this school but declined. Her acceptance probably didn't have anything to do with the interview.

PP, that's standard for the alumni interviews that my college conducts. We bend over backwards to accommodate, and each student is made to feel special. That's the idea. Now, some alumni may do it better than others . . . .
