There have been people that post about their experiences. But Mr play by age quickly spams them until their post gets pushed off the page.

They seem to be leaning to play with their grade.

Not what I'm seeing at my club. I'm seeing some who want to, based on being on the team forever AND others wanting to play on age because the chance to get before 100 scouts vs. 5 at showcases. Whether the club indulges either is yet to be seen BUT this is good they can do either, because that's what individuals may need.

Funny how older kids playing down seems to work out for some. The younger players that are getting screwed unfortunately don't say anything.

Younger players benefit from getting these more experienced players on their team, if they can hang. It'll make them better than they otherwise would be.

Funny how folks default their thinking to equate older with better

They can be IF they're good enough to get on the team. Then, they bring another year of experience, playing at an older group. That's where you find the value/talent.

As they say, experience isn't knowledge

It's something that CAN benefit a player and may Aug-Dec players an edge during this transition. It may not. BUT the ones who are good enough, it'll benefit the younger players still on the team.

I wish ESPN could do a 30 for 30 on this BY to SY transition this fall...it will be an exceptional experience of what is all wrong with youth sports. Parents and clubs are going to over react to this so much.

Younger players can always play up if the want additional challenge.

Older players playing down for wins is just a way to steal opportunities from younger players.

But they're not playing down when it's an age-based grouping. What's crazy if you have 2 players both born on Aug. 21 but in 2 grades, you'd be OK with the younger grade. That's where your argument fails.

Yeah, older players better. It's RAE, so to look better play with younger.

You may need to read more about RAE

If you can't control a ball against your age, you still can't control a ball against younger

It won't work out if those younger players step up and bring it.
