The places with the most crime is seeing very few federal troops. Make that make sense.
It makes sense because having the federal troops in the commercial, nightlife, and federal district allows MPD and federal law enforcement to target high crime areas. Why is that so difficult to understand, especially for such an educated city?
For the millionth time it make no sense. It is a military show of force not a policing effort. There were never 10 MPD standing outside of Krispy Kreme.
For the millionth time. There are actual murder stats that back up the fact that this show of force is saving people’s lives. 4 murders from August 12 to September 5. I swear people like you would continue to gaslight people into thinking there was no change in the crime rate if a single murder wasn’t recorded in the city until December 31. You are hell bent on not even conceding a single fact because you just don’t want the National Guard here.
I don’t want the National Guard here either but I’m not going to lie to myself and ignore the facts.
The thing is, if you had an additional 1,800 MPD standing around there would be a reduction in crime. The force is short nearly 1,000 officers, so if they were fully staffed and even a few more, you’d likely see similar reductions in crime. But it’s expensive and difficult to hire officers vs ordering NG to be there, who have no choice and I assume are paid significantly less and receive lower benefits. Perhaps the federal government should fully fund policing in the federal city but let DC make its own decisions.

Try again Jeb. They are placed where there is zero crime and no need for foot patrol. It is 100 a MAGA show of force. Trump aspires to be Duterte.
Wrong. I’ve seen them in the Metro and in Union Station. Both formerly higher crime areas.
The metro is a system, not a place. Union Station is federally owned and no it did not have high crime just a lot of homeless people.

Anonymous wrote:Judge Zia Faruqui came in as the first Muslim judge on D.C.’s federal bench, with a background in diversity and reentry programs—and it shows in how he rules. He’s tossed out or gutted case after case: calling the FBI’s arrest of Torez Riley “the most illegal search I’ve ever seen,” letting Edward Dana walk after threatening to kill the president and a cop, and watching multiple felony assault charges collapse into misdemeanors or disappear. Instead of weighing evidence, he lectures about politics and even told one defendant that “people who look like you” are being targeted—injecting race where it wasn’t part of the case. This pattern looks less like enforcing the law and more like excusing offenders. As long as judges like Faruqui put ideology and messaging over accountability, D.C.’s crime problem will never get fixed.
