I don’t know why everyone’s convinced it’s something huge. I think it is very possible that it was something smaller but ongoing, and then when Jen realized he was never going to fix it they broke up. 1000% I can see Jen making him out to be the bad person and “the one who left”, and the kids initially taking her side because of that.

There was definitely a rift with Sidney but suggesting he cheated with one of her friends seems a little intense. After he break up, he’s posted pics with all of the kids except her and she was definitely missing and some big holiday events with his side of the family. But again, I don’t believe it’s porn. Most American men watch porn as do many women. Even if it was a porn addiction - why not seek help/counseling together?

Brandon described their wedding in an interview. It was dry, with no music in a fellowship hall with finger foods the older ladies of the church help make. I didn’t make that up. I’m very familiar with what the church looked like in the 90’s in the Midwest. My whole point was there is this teen rebellion feeling to the way they go about proving how not conservative they are today. I have no problem with any of it. It’s the desperation to prove how they are cool they are that’s odd for nearly 50 year olds.

They were just regular bible belt Christians, they weren't in a cult.

Tattoos were simply not a thing in the 90s, definitely not in Kansas. Beer and wine and cigars and girls' trips, most Christians did and still do these things if they want to. Trendy clothes and hairstyles - obviously you've never seen her high school flashback posts. She was definitely on trend with her big hair and scrunchy socks. Not having sex outside of marriage is not some insane Amish type idea, it's what every Christian church officially teaches and has for 2000 years, Judaism and Islam, and for about a million very good reasons.

Most Christians also do not get married at 20 or however old they were. That is more of a small town + small Christian college thing, but lots of people get married young who aren't even Christian. No music at weddings? Huh? I've been to more conservative bible belt Christian weddings that I can count, including my own, and I can only think of one that had no alcohol because they were Baptists, but all have had music. If it wasn't live music it was because it wasn't in the budget.

Did Jen ever describe her wedding as dry with no music? Because that's a pretty strict stereotype you are putting out there and I don't think it has many teeth to it.

Our experience at ANC led us to think Tray was a pompous ass. The last person who should ever have pretended to be a pastor. And his "sermons" - torture to sit thru. I swear they made them up on the spot. Tray and Brandon both put hours into their hermeneutics /s/

Jen was never involved at ANC. She'd show up on Sundays and of course at homeless cookouts for the optics and Insta but she was not serving in or out of the church it in any way whatsoever that I ever saw. She just wasn't into it. Nor did she show up to bible studies etc or hang out with hardly anyone who wasn't Pruett or Shelton. A few core members of the church did all the work. When they left, it imploded. Now it's a house of cards.

Her book Interrupted is all about being a SJW helping the least of these ... never saw it. Ever. She was way above all that. Others in that church constantly served their butts off. Jen? Nah.
