I mentioned Buckingham on page 92, PP.

Why aren't more people outraged over sh1t like this? Seems like the public squabble over little things while the bigger issues get ignored.
Because it's legal and every school gets building, scholarships, etc from rich people in exchange for their kid being a happy low scoring student. When you have a school full of smartiepants and some of the smartiepants have to be at the bottom they develop depression and other ailments. Dumb rich kids are pleased as spiked punch just to be there.

It appears that she went out of her way to fool her son so he wouldn't know. And he has to read the transcripts of what she said about him. I feel sorry for the kids that were not involved.
I do feel sorry for him as well. Way a horrible person Buckingham is to put his future and reputation at risk.

Naive and apparently not a consumer of the news. There have been loads of such cases over the years.
Ok, I guess I just haven't had the time to read all the news about college admissions scandals over the years. "Loads of cases"? Really? I am just trying to live my life and raise my kids, just a regular person with regular friends and a regular life. Oh well.
Actually you are at worse stupid... and at best uniformed. Just like the pushy parents killing themselves at STEM schools like that is all one has to do. How can you "raise" kids equipped for life if you are completely blind to what is going on.
What now? What’s your problem?
My kid is in a Stem magnet because he loves science. I didn’t push him into it and I don’t see it as a ticket to a top 20 school. What’s more he is not alone. Most of his friends are really into Math/Science/Comp Science. They love what they do. Many are also good at other things. Some are incredible musicians, 1/3 are varsity athletes, some love to write or paint. Most are also highly social and they support each other . Yes they work hard but they are not one dimensional or socially awkward or whatever stereotype you have in your head. Luckily for ds there are plenty of schools in the top 50 that value academic excellence and don’t fill a huge chunk of their incoming class with hooked kids.
You know they have less hooked kids how?

This is WRONG and so unfair to his kids. Three got in on their own. The Yale soccer coach offered to accept a bribe for the fourth. Mr. Tobin exposed it. Mr. Tobin was not charged in the college admissions case because he did not take part in it (although he has other legal issues). Both of my kids know his. They are smart and were accepted on their merits. Of course, now they have to deal with not only the shame of their dad's other actions and his ties (being the tipster) on this case, and people like you questioning their right to be at Yale.
People like us have no rights to question the merits of people like him and his kids? I think we have the right to question everyone at this point. Who can be trusted anymore?
I thought Tobin got out of being charged in Varsity Blues roundup because he tipped off the FBI. Immunity deal. How do you know older girls were not part of it?
Why would the coach approach Tobin unless Tobin has done it before for his other kids? You think the coach would just be so stupid as to randomly approach someone? There has to be past history.
No he's not. He dropped out of Yale.
Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!
Exactly. You think someone who never smoked crack could just hand over a crack distribution conspiracy to the FBI? Not a chance.

Tobin is a Yale alum. His kids had legacy preferences no matter what. So it's not like the playing field was ever equal for them anyway.
No, Tobin is not a Yale alum. He only attended Yale, then transferred to U of Vermont.

To add details to her situation, her teenage daughter, Lilia, is an aspiring actress, social media star, and best friends with Maddie Ziegler (Dance Moms) and Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things). She’s only 15. I bet her mom was planning on repeating this with her in a couple years.
