There are many articles written about the down fall of independent music. So to say it is only on her talent that she succeeds is naive to capitalism as a whole and its influences on the music industry.

Most of us don't have kids with the talent and skills to go far. Having pushy parents is what it takes to make it to the top. Ask the Williams sisters, Tiger Woods, Bieber, all gymnasts, the Hughes brothers, etc etc. Do you hate that this is what it takes or just the people who do it?

Tiger and the sports kids you mentioned didn’t have a web site and his parents didn’t encourage false friendships and airing of his personal life in order to further their career. There is a HUGE difference there. Excelling in something is one thing, using your kids personal life and name as fodder for fame is another. It is different.

Guys, my family was pretty wealthy growing up. My dad could’ve easily afforded to put $1 million toward a music career. Guess what. Even if he did, I seriously doubt I’d be worth 2 billion by age 36 and I seriously doubt I would’ve had the biggest tour we will ever see for generations.

There are millions and millions and millions of kids who don’t amount to any successful career in the industry yet have supportive parents who are trying to make their dreams come true and investing time and money in them. But it’s a one in 10 million chance that you end up with a long-term, lucrative and successful career, and for Taylor’s level of success it’s more like one in a billion.

Yep, I’m sure tons of parents that we don’t hear about our pouring money into their kids to become famous, weather it’s America idol or whatever to make their dreams come true but they aren’t Taylor so the hater jealousy people that think she doesn’t write her own songs had to find something else wrong with her

Most normal parents, even though they are supporting their kid on American Idol, aren’t arranging secret parties for their teenager to generate interest, or creating a web page about their 12 year old daughter to support her music career. They exploited her, even if at 12 she said she wanted to do it. I can’t imagine doing that to a tween. Even beyond that, most parents aren’t buying up their child’s albums or have the savvy to negotiate business contracts for their child or claiming that they are their child’s therapist.

Oh, my. You missed the point completely. She has talent and stage presence and the ‘it’ factor and if it was so easy to manipulate the system by throwing parties to generate interest and have their kid become famous and rich lots would do it but they aren’t Taylor.

Do you really think it is okay to create a website about your 12 year old? Do you really want to engineer your kids life to the point you are inviting screened fans over to have parties with her? She herself has said she was lonely and would follow fans to see what normal kids lives are like. I can’t imagine doing that to a child. Yes, some people do it for sports, but that doesn’t have the same trade offs of fame and money for privacy that Hollywood/the music industry does.

Taylor is exceptional. By Taylor’s own admission, mom is her therapist and matchmaker and according to many, Dad is still stepping in to solve her business and legal problems.

I don’t think her fans are remotely able to be objective about her. You “guys” are too stuck in Taylor worship to think that she isn’t solely responsible for her success. You are willing to insult people who point out inconsistencies in your theories and willing to defend capitalism to keep you from questioning your beliefs about her.
