Re the Britax marketing though, I am confused - word of mouth would seem to be the best kind of marketing because it means people like it enough to talk about it. Whats so wrong with that? That would seem to say alot about the product. I bought one because nearly everyone I spoke to (and the research I did online and on this site) said it was great, safe, easy to use, comfortable, etc. To me, the extra money was worth those things for a product that I would use for several years. For my second seat though, we bought a Vogage because I understand it is the same but cheaper. If I had known that beforehand, we would have bought two of those.

no wasn't me, I am the "mean mother" look for the best looking kid at the park, the one with all the friends, smiling laughing having a good time, not scared to death some whinny mommy is going to make her give her toy up, b/c she knows her "mean" mommy isn't going to let it happen.

Oh please. If you live in the city and walk everywhere, your child will need a break. I think that sitting in a stroller in the fresh air is way better than driving your kid around in a carseat all day. Watching DVDs in the back seat probably...

Agree - I would rather have my kid in the stroller than in the backseat watching DVD's! By the way - those DVD players are annoying - good for a long trip (we have used oone) but what a bad habit to get your kids into.

Oh please. If you live in the city and walk everywhere, your child will need a break. I think that sitting in a stroller in the fresh air is way better than driving your kid around in a carseat all day. Watching DVDs in the back seat probably...

I love my 800 dollar stroller - it is elegant looking and less tacky than the plastic things at Babys are Us. I also paid a ton for a leather car seat to match my cars interior. I buy my kids adorable Burberry sweaters and Italian leather shoes. I only shop at Whole Foods and don't even look at the price tags. Why? Because I can afford it. My kids go to private school and I also have a full-time nanny, don't work, shop and go to the gym and my husband and I eat out at least 3 nights a week. Do you hate me? I don't care - I have a pretty nice life. Bye!

Not sure if this is real, because I seriously doubt there are people who would actually write this whether the "facts" are right or not, but in case it is - I don't hate you at all (I've never met you) and whatever works for you is fine with me. I did want to let you know though that those Italian leather shoes are not so good for the development of little feet. So you may want to consider Stride Rite instead.

I am so glad I didn't act like that when I could afford it. My DH was making $300k a year, and was downsized. He has been out of work for about seven months now, and we have been living off our savings. If I spent money like that, there is no way I would have been able to live worry free like this for so long. I am so glad we were realistic about the "what ifs" and saved for the rainy day that came before we expected it to.

Its fun. I find it annoying when a mom who did not have a career but a string of entry level jobs which she didn't take seriously, stopped working once she got married and hubby could pay bills, and then talks about how she chose to sacrifice by not working to stay home. Nothing wrong with staying at home at all but don't make up sacrifices.

If that's the case, count me in.

I didn't use my stroller for more than a couple of years, and for me $400 a year to push my kid around to the park is just not worth it. I make my children walk the mile and a half to the park and back. They need that exercise.
