Subject: MCSL is making Marc Elrich look like Ron Desantis

I wish they would have divisionals as two 3-team meets. That way you have a full pool (2 swimmers per team per event) and it feels more like a “big” meet without being crazy crowded like it usually is. With the 2-team approach it will be smaller than a normal dual meet.
Kids under 12 cannot be vaccinated. It makes zero sense to risk kids health so you can have you so called normal.

I agree! It doesn’t sound like they are planning for any changes, but maybe this idea will come around?

I agree! It doesn’t sound like they are planning for any changes, but maybe this idea will come around?

The CDC guidance is separate for kids under 12, which is the bulk of many teams.
Our pool just announced basically everything back to pre-covid: no masks outside for anyone.
The reps are voting on a rule that would require masks I’m crowded areas at A meets. MCSL appears to be deferring to pools re B meet protocols.

That is a long way away. Maybe there will be some agreement to lower capacity for those meets specifically so kids can swim.
There is no need for the parents to be there. That would help.
Young kids need supervision.
Relay carnival is typically a zoo and corralling the kids to get together with their relay teams and to their races at the right time can be tough. If it's allowed this year, I hope MCSL and teams account for sufficient volunteer staffing. Pure spectators are the most expendable part of the event.
