Why should we? They keep stealing our intellectual property.

China is far ahead of the US in some areas. Don't delude yourself.

That’s because they’re stealing our intellectual property. They don’t have to spend money and resources developing what we already have. They can spend all their resources improving on what we have developed at great expense.

They have taken American IP, but no, Chinese advances are not just based off US IP. It is absolutely foolish and misguided to downplay Chinese ingenuity this way, especially because what they are ahead in is so critical to the US. Belief in American exceptionalism is making us deeply unprepared because people insist that China is just copying US IP and therefore we are missing the much worse picture.

The terrifying thing in particular is that China is leaping (has leapt) far ahead of the US in machine learning and military level hacking.

That’s the point. They’ve leaped ahead of us in computer technology by stealing our patents and now have developed superior hacking because they didn’t have to spend resources developing what we already had. They spent their resources improving on what they stole from us and can now hack our military technology and have used it to develop military technology that we haven’t developed yet, like hypersonic missiles.

Your understanding is flawed, but in any event: what, exactly, do you propose to do about this? China is ahead of the US in ML and certain sensitive military technology. What next?

Well, for starters, we need to stop accepting 50 year old Chinese students posing as 20 somethings into US universities. We need to stop awarding 50 year old Chinese students posing as high school students with full rides into US universities.

Where the hell are you getting that notion? What "free ride?" What "50 year olds posing as 20 somethings?"
Most Chinese students get charged FULL TUITION. Which THEY have to pay.

That is true for undergrad, but for grad school in STEM, if you're paying full tutition you're doing it wrong. It should either be paid by an employer, or by the university itself and include a stipend. It is very common for STEM PhD students who are teaching or research assistants to have fees/tuition waived or heavily subsidized.

We should stop accepting ALL students from China. They are working for the CCP.

Oh,..... and something else to watch. China is not longer putting "Made in China" on their products. It is now, "Made in PRC." Meant to fool unsuspecting buyers.

Eliminate OPT visas
Eliminate HBs visas

This has been going on since mandiant identified in 2013.

Obama and Hillary ignored the mandiant (fire eye) report in 2013
