It was very wishy washy.
Was it saying they’re not going to waitlist? We read it and are still confused.
It means that their yield came in at or above what they projected. Those commits could still melt away due to accepting a waitlist spot elsewhere or personal reasons or visa snafus etc
I think last year Dartmouth didn't start pulling from the waitlist until July, and the few years before that they didn't accept anyone off the waitlist at all, so I wouldn't hold your breath.
I appreciate Dartmouth's transparency. They're helping kids move on. My guess is that if Dartmouth isn't going to the WL, most of the schools they might lose kids to should they get off the waitlist also won't be going to the waitlist. I doubt Dartmouth will take any off this year at all.

I believe what was meant is that there will be even *more* international students than normal due to the pause last year.
I couldn't tell whether that poster was being serious or not (making fun of the current seniors for complaining about their circumstances). Colleges plan for each class to be x% international, so international students are competing only against international students for those spots and domestic students are competing only against domestic students for the domestic spots. They're in separate piles. More international applicants doesn't affect how many domestic applicants are accepted.

Anonymous wrote:Statistically, the kids should have been prepared for rejection.
Now they should be prepared to not get off of he waitlist.
Reality will find them eventually.

Wearing the school tee, trying to find a roommate, talking about dorm assignments. What a relief! It looks like many colleges are having a very high yield, so glad DC isn’t counting on a WL acceptance. It is also heartwarming to see how supportive classmates are and how excited they are for everyone - regardless of where they are going to college!
